    Just FYI...
I, myself, is a Sunday driver and my wife drives Prius on weekdays for short trip (2-4 miles) shopping.
Our Prius mileage is about 15km/L(35mpg), however my previous car was 1994 Honda Accord Wagon 2.2L and got only 6km/L(14mpg) on the same situation.
We see 2.5 times improvement and we are very happy about that.

Hear, hear! Last year I burned 170 gallons of gasoline. Hmm, maybe I'll start a thread...

Or with your savings in gasoline you could purchase an electric bicycle and ride to work. With the electric assist you won't arrive all sweaty and in CA you could easily ride all year. Then you could use no gasoline.

In fact, you could evaluate whether you even needed the additional car. So then you sell the car, saving you thousands of dollars per year in payments and expenses. You save this additional money in a 401K or IRA for retirement, compounding to millions and you retire early. See, not only do you help save the planet but you get to retire early too, all my just moving close to work!

Do you have all your plastic well covers on? you can lose up to 5MPG if they are missing.

Wow, nice to see my post got revived! Anyway, I did make the move a couple years ago...still have my 2006 Prius, now with 96k miles.

Office is about 6 miles away...I'd say over the past few years my MPG average has dropped to about 41-43 mpgs. When it's colder in the winter, sometimes I'll have a tank or two just under 40 mpgs; and during the summer, will sometimes see around 45. Still no complaints though, prius still runs well!

True! One might go from 1000 MPG down to 995 MPG over a particular course by removing the wheel covers. And yet the same car and same driver on a different course might only go from 50 MPG to 49.75 MPG by removing the wheel covers. How can this be??
