I did say I'd update so here I am. The weather was a rather balmy 55 degrees when I first started it this morning, so at least 15 degrees warmer than the previous few weeks. It started up and idled just fine, I hesitate to say it's all tickety boo until I start it up when cold again. So, once again, I'll update when that opportunity arises.

I fear it's not all rosy. After my 120 mile or so drive on Saturday I parked the Prius. We live on top of a 600ft climb, so the battery takes a bit of a beating everytime I drive home. Late last night I popped out for some milk, I got in and the battery was at 2 bars, a short 1/2 mile climb over the hill and a mile or so down hill, lightly on the brakes and the battery was at 7 bars. That re-charged suspiciously fast for my liking. Block 6 looks to be consistently the lowest and Block 8 (the semi replaced) consistenly the highest with a delta of about 0.3v between them.
What's the maximum delta before CEL starts lighting up the dash?

This is quite normal when you first attempt to repair your battery. It's not balanced so it'll give you problems. If everything else looks good, you can invest in fixing that battery properly now

Yes. Many here use the @jeff652 's Prolong system from Hybrid Automotive.

I'll see how the car does over the next month or so. The rattley start up idle seems to be gone, so far. Then it's probably a decision between $700 for the charger/discharger kit or invest that in a battery. I'll monitor the MPG and go from there.

I'm thinking about one myself.. Maybe I'll find someone in my area to share in the cost and we'll share the unit.

Are the sales of used modules working out well so far?

You actually gave me the idea a year ago:whistle:.

But otherwise it sits on the shelf waiting for me, so why not help another member out;).

You’re warehousing in LA, so I bet you’re close to your personal goal(y).

On a side note, there's 3 bulbs in the overhead light unit,( I switched them out to LED, I've tried them both ways round). One of which goes on and off with the unlocking and locking of doors. I can't figure out what the outer 2 do? Any idea?

Those are the map reading lights, they are switched on and off using the push buttons on the left and right.

So I bought an auxiliary audio jack that plugs into the CD changer plug in the back, but I can't seem to get it to work. Anyone have any experience with these? http://amzn.to/2Ch2XTQ

Bunce, this thread has been kept me reading off and on all day. I am a new owner myself and learning about my car. The rattle at start up sounds like low oil pressure. That would explain the rattle and why goes away after a short while. Once the oil drains to the pan overnight it may be taking a while to circulate when you start it the next morning.

    Please keep the updates coming!!
