Well, if you've got a 2005 Prius and were hoping to fit an aux line for music, don't waste your time with this gadget http://amzn.to/2GpGere . It doesn't work. I'm open to other suggestions as I don't want to spend a lot of money to get music from the phone.
A quick update. So the wife's been driving the Prius back and forth to work, I drove it today and it's currently showing 43.x MPG. A couple of things. The hatch handle falls off every time the trunk is closed, I imagine this is a common issue. Does replacing the plastic plugs fix this? Still no luck finding a stereo Bluetooth/jack adapter to play phone music. Lots of squeaks and rattles, I guess going around with strips of felt and sticking them between the plastic pieces is the solution?
The hatch handle is really not designed to be a handle. It's held on with both irreplaceable clips and bolts. Best bet is to lift from the bottom of the tailgate after the latch releases. There are quite a few threads about the rear hatch garnish (that's what they call it). You can start with some reading here Question about loose rear panel | PriusChat
Have you tried a 3.5mm to Bluetooth adapter? I wonder if something like these would work. https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=audio+jack+to+bluetooth+transmitter&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=177320369037&hvpos=1t1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=5051555649859933660&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014167&hvtargid=kwd-87533746730&ref=pd_sl_3est9e7din_b I don't know of anything that will allow your phone to pair with both the phone Bluetooth built into the car and the Bluetooth of these devices at the same time though. I have never considered converting the plug to Bluetooth because I use an old tablet to play my music through the 3.5mm jack, not my phone.
There's no BT or 3.5mm jack in the car (base model). I tried an adapter that plugs into the CD multichanger socket in the back but it didn't work, after more research I found that 2005's for some reason were having the same issue. So, I sent it back.
Base model makes a big difference. In that case I don't know of any way short of putting in your own stereo unit with Bluetooth integrated into it.
A little update. The wife drove up to Seattle to pick me up from the airport and back to Portland, for the tank it was showing 48mpg! Then I got behind the wheel and it dropped slightly. That's pretty impressive I thought. Also I've bought a Prolong re-conditioning kit, so when we get a slow weekend I'll see what I can do with that.
Uh oh.....the triangle is back. The last couple of weeks the battery has been yoyo-ing and today it was empty, full, empty, full, within a mile. Hopefully I'll get the charger harness installed this weekend and see if that will help in any way.
I'd be interested in reading about the process, complexity, and time involved when you're reconditioning the battery. Good luck.
Six weeks later...... I hope procrastination didn't bite you in the..... I tried the whole 3 step charge/discharge process with my prolong kit but one module had totally failed so no coming back from that; it will only help weak ones. After replacing that one, using the grid charger and discharger got me another year. It would have probably been longer than that but the car was only driven about 4k miles during that year. GOOD LUCK!
Definitely looks like symptoms of a bad cell pack. I don't think installing a charger harness will it bring it back.
It looks like Mole 5 is next to get whacked. P3015 and P0A80. I just read codes and monitored hybrid assistant while going for a drive. Cell 5 is in bad shape. I've got surgery scheduled for next week so this is going to have to wait a month or so. I'm wondering if I should just get 2 cells and replace them both, while in their, install the charger harness and then do a thorough battery re-conditioning. And hopefully that'll get me more than 4 months worth of trouble free motoring. For all the naysayers that will post. I'm pretty sure we've got more out than we put in for the car already, and I sadistically enjoy the challenge.
I’d say gear up and do the work once you are back in action after surgery. With whack-a-mole, the less periods of extended downtime, the better. Hope surgery goes well for you.
