    My wife has a very light foot. She has been getting some terrific numbers this past month.

    3.1l/100 km = 76 mpg IMG_20190901_182708_187.jpeg

    Start with 235.2, and divide any of the above numbers into it, and you've got mpg US. Works the other way too.

    Displayed value, say 3.4, is also likely to be a calculated value of 3.6~3.7.

    So for an example: 235.2/3.6=65 mpg US.

    And going back: 235.2/65=3.6 liters/100km

    Why 235.2? It's nothing magical. There's a variety of multiplications and divisions, to convert kms to miles, liters to gallons (US). When you distill it all down, you're left with that one action: division into 235.2.

    If it was a different conversion, say from liter/100km to miles per gallon (imperial), what they use in Britain I believe, then the number 235.2 would change. Maybe multiply by the difference between US and Imperial gallon? The number then would be:

    235.2*1.201=282.4752 (say 282.5)

    It is now September and she continues to get excellent results (and yes, she is competitive). The pic below was taken about a week before the car had an oil change and tire pressures adjusted at the dealership.

    2.9l /100km = 81 mpg
    56.9km = 35.4 miles
    8C = 46.4F priuspic.jpeg

    Our 3rd gen is currently at 5.8~5.9 liters per 100 km (~40 mpg). And that's just displayed.

    Block heater wiring fritzed almost a months back (still waiting on dealership for replacement...). Been doing mostly short milk runs too. Depressing...

    I suspect new 215/45R17 Michelin Primacies are still exacting a toll too.

    You temperature conversion is only good for 8°C and it's missing an offset:

    °F = 32 + °C*9/5

    I've only driven my 2019 XLE around 800 miles since taking possession of it October 1st. I've generally averaged 52 to 53 mpg - mostly highway.

    Now that the temperatures have dropped to near freezing, I've taken about a 6% hit in mileage. That's not as bad as I experienced with my 2011 Prius.

    :D As they say in real estate, location is everything. I'm not going to miss summer one little bit!!!! I'm sick of sweating 24/7 and only getting 4.5 miles per kWh. Got up this morning and it was only 55F outside. It's like I died & went to heaven. :):)

    Then again, tomorrow we'll be back into the 80s again. At least it's not 95 anymore. :whistle:

    I think you'd like the West Coast of Vancouver Island, the Tofino/Ucluelet area.

    I was in Victoria many years ago. I'm sure I'd love the west coast, except I'll bet it's really wet there.

    It's easy to remember if you use a mnemonic. Just remember the number 235 (mnemonic: "skip the number 4")

    MPG = 235 / ltr per 100km

    MPG for 3.1 ltr per 100 km = 235 / 3.1 = 75.8 mpg

    (76 mpg)
