    Found it. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&...p;z=13&om=1

Now let me figure out what I found.

Well it is near Battle Mountain, Nevada. Home to human powered (bicycle races) where according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Mountain the record of 81 mph was set.

    Let me find something.

Try this one. The key feature is the bridge not the airport! My wife suggested and insisted that I not crop out the airport for the benefit of airportkid. If needed, she will post a hint in the morning.

Yay, Toups! Yes, this is the site of the World Human Powered Speed Challenge held in the Black Rock Desert in October each year. Here's a shot of the world's fastest cyclist and his machine. If you think that's radical, you should see the ones with no windows, called 'camera-bikes'.

Even knowing that it's there, I can't quite find the giant "BM" on the hillside....

Battle Mountain's the town nearby. The area's called the Black Rock Desert. You didn't want me to give it away, did you?

Well, that is if I am to believe the name painted on the airport's taxiway.
    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...p;z=16&om=1

The "Traffic" tab on the map also narrowed the search down to just a few US cities.
    http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&z=...m=1&layer=t

But of course the "Tacoma Narrows" blazoned across the image was a dead giveaway.

    New image:
No hints yet . . . except that airplane (MD80/DC9??? looks to be in a steep turn as the nose gear seems to be visible. FROM A SATELLITE!!!! ) in the image is actually flying and is really of no consequence to the location . . . except maybe that it has airplanes flying over it . . . but when I visited this location, I don't remember any airplanes flying overhead - so no, as far as I know, the location is not in a flightpath close to an airport. I could be wrong though.

Cheeze Looeeze! It's Galloping Gertie's replacement at Tacoma Narrows as you can see so clearly spelled out on the taxiway in my link, but less distinct in the posting!

I looked at every bridge BUT that bridge because I knew Tacoma Narrows was a twin parallel span, and this image there's only a single span - but I couldn't figure out what the extra tower footings were - until sheer elimination reduced all the possibilties to Tacoma Narrows and then the footings were explained (as well as the twin span) - a new bridge is under construction!!

Good pick, with an evil twist!

The only notable features of the town below are the suspension bridge and the name of the town. The suspension bridge is in Wikipedia's list of longest suspension spans, but it's the name of the town that makes this a landmark of note. It's a name that, in an indirect way, makes it sister or cousin to Boston, or, rather, that other name for Boston --- :p

OK, THIS IS PERT NEAR PLAGIARISM!!!!

    I think it's time for another rule . . .

    RULE C: ("C" for Check)
Just prior to posting your answer to an image, hit the reload button and see if someone has answered just before you . . . or maybe even about 45 minutes beforehand.
    ;)

I too am guilty of breaking Rule C . . . but that was before there was a Rule C.

Sufferin' Prius Envy: That is George Washington's Mount Vernon estate... I can't get GoogleMaps to give me a link I can paste---but I did find that particular view, I promise.

I don't have a new image handy, so someone jump in!

Let's stick to the one in Airportkid's last post as the current image please, so we just have one at a time.

Here's some more help, since I accidentally stepped on SPE and made the dreaded "Rule C" pop out with a loud whistle, thus making my entry more of a bastard (def. 1) than I had intended (def. 2). (Apologies to SPE - it was 1:00 AM & I forgot to look both ways before crossing what I figured for a deserted street).

    Clue: 1969.

No, I won't say what that is, but it should cut down on the trial & error considerably if that's your approach. But work on that "Boston" reference - that might get you there quicker.

No need to apologize. I took no offense.
And speaking of looking both ways, do realize there are many Prii in this parking lot . . . even at 1 AM. Looking, rather than going on the fact that you don't hear another, is a very good idea.

Yeah, but you're missing the name of the town! Click on MAP & you'll see the "Boston" connection.

    I'll go! I'll go!

OK this will be considered your average city, allthough capital to at least one frequent poster. Its significance however, is not so much the city, but something that happened above it. It is something that very possibly neverr happened anywhere before or after.

Found it. Given it is a capital on a river, it is Jefferson City, MO http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...p;z=16&om=1

Now let's see if I can find what happened here.

Someone else will have to enlighten me. I couldn't find anything with a quick search.

Here is a new site. It is definitely of note. Although there is a similar site almost 5 miles away.
