Since nobody else jumped in. Here goes.

I spent a week here in 1983. No other clues for now. Someone who has been here will recognize this place immediatley.

I feel a little guilty for being so rottenly deceitful.
Its the only stadium in the country with a western style grass infield and outfield with dirt base paths.
My next clue was going to be that they have really cute cheerleaders.
Ruth and Gehrig were touring an allstar team there in the 30s

The parking is unusual enough to warrant something outside the U.S. And the streets (particularly to the upper left of the stadium) implies driving on the left, but the resolution isn't good enough to really be sure. The clue stating it was unique for the country left me assuming "this" country, but you know what they say when you assume something.

After all those obscure, out of commission airports, cryptic clues, and teeny tiny islands in the middle of nowhere? All part of the game, I'd say.

Or should I be feeling guilty too? :)

Clue number 1) This island has a connection to Howard Hughes through TWA

Never been there, except as a cardboard pushing opponent in Avalon Hill's famous MIDWAY game that recreates the brutal WWII sea battle there that put the nails in the coffin for the Japanese fleet, sinking FOUR Japanese carriers and a cruiser.

Still no image handy - so have at it!

    MB

P.S. I'll have to look up the TWA connection - it was Juan Trippe and Pan American World Airways that developed air travel in the Pacific with the Sikorsky, Martin and Boeing Clippers (and the famous "China Clipper" - one of the three Martin M-130s). Reminds me of a trivia quiz: Every all-metal Boeing multi-engine civilian airliner ever built has the number 7 in its model designation or name: 247, 307, 377, 707, 717, 720, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, 787 - except one. Which one?

I figured you might get it Kid. I thought you would recognize the airfield. The PanAm China Clipper connection.

Well, that seems like the middle of nowhere, so here's another that looks like the middle of nowhere, but really isn't.

It's the middle of somewhere, and there's only 4 places like this on Earth.

Try this one. (I'll take this opportunity, since all the one's I've seen so far are too hard for me.)

Coeur d'Alene Golf and Spa Resort

    I'll post in a minute.

(edit) Here is one. This is a famous local landmark. If no one recognizes it immediately. I will start with the clues.

Now it's my turn to ask, how the devil did you get that? I've driven thru Coeur d'Alene, and never thought that was a likely location for this particular resort. Vegetation doesn't seem unique, water isn't greenish-blue, so it doesn't seem like a tropical island, but still that's a long way from narrowing it down to Idaho.

If one has the imagination (I didn't, at least at first, and not in time) to ask Google for "Floating Greens" instead of "Island Greens" the Couer d'Alene course shows up right at the top. It's a distinctive enough characteristic that chasing it down will get you to Couer d'Alene eventually.

    Good post and find! ;)

Actually typed into Google "golf green on an island". The third post was Couer d'Alene. and saw the following picture.

Clue #2 What are the straight line features at the left of the picture?

It looks like some kind of border crossing where a train pulls in, drops off passengers and leaves without crossing the border itself. I haven't had luck with Google searching on those terms yet. I'm thinking it could be one of the Iron curtain countries though.
