You are right on the trains but it is not a border crossing.

This is a famous local landmark. If no one recognizes it immediately. I will start with the clues.

Clue #2 What are the straight line features at the left of the picture?

    Clue #3 Famous Murals

    Here is a wider view.

Taking you at your word that "local" meant Cincinnati, I simply focused the satellite's camera on that little burg and there it was next to the railroad yards, Cincinnati Mystery Railroad Pavillion

But what it is I still have to look up.

Meanwhile, while I'm trying to find out what that truncated dome actually is (it don't think it's a station, or at least an operating station, because the tracks immediately adjacent to it are unused, and the rest of the yard is a freight marshalling yard), the field, as they say, is WIDE open ---

Here it is - an old railroad station that today is a museum:

Okay, that finally did it. That's a massive train yard! Doh! Looking at last 10 posts, I see apk got in there while I was googling, and he did it the exact opposite way. I found the same link which clued me in, talks about the history of this art deco passenger rail building, now an Amtrak stop and museum and iMax theater, and from there I googled the address in Cincinnatti.

People gather here at least twice daily to see it's most famous and only permanant residents.

Well, it's a hotel in a northern hemisphere city (the shadows) and likely coastal (river, seacoast or lake; street alignments are not true north/south as would be more common inland), but I've scoured Manhattan & Philadelphia (streets roughly similar alignment) with no success - haven't tried non-USA yet but it looks USA in some indefinable way. Streets visible are one way boulevards, but I guess that's common to a lot of cities. Googling "permanent hotel residents" doesn't help much (nor did a "haunted hotels" search).

Hope this helps narrow things down for some who may have superior ideas of where to look ---

I guessing it's US because of the type of air conditioner units. Also northern latitude due to the long shadows and the cars seem to be larger. Again all points to the US.

I am guessing also that the permanent residents are some type of Animal or Mascot.

So with this in mind I am off to search.

You guys are very warm....no more clues as you should be able to get it from what you've deduced already.

Here is one. I checked the list and this doesn't seem to be on it.

I think this should be an easy one.

I went right to Havasu Falls.

What gave it away for me was this:

    1) Shear cliffs probably Redwall limestone of the Grand Canyon series stratigraphy.
    .
    2) Almost horizontal stratigraphy.

    3) Waterfall with well travelled trail.

    4) Because of the stratigraphy it had to just a few places. I was going to look here, Zion, and the water pocket monocline in Utah.

    It hit Havasu falls first.

The site crashed in mid edit - so the sentence below won't make any sense until late tonight when I get back to the computer that has the picture so I can re-post it.
For a natural feature of such prominence, it's amazing how remote and inaccessible it still is (even the satellite won't give it the high resolution eye). This is a new entry, but not a new category.

Meantime, anyone with an image ready right away, by all means post it now ---
