It's not always wrong to dump anti-bacterials on a viral infection. Especially respiratory, because one is trying to wall off a secondary bacterial invasion.

Most symptoms you describe were your immune system hitting top gear. May or may not be a comforting thought.

 

Several kinds of virus continue to leak out after major symptoms have passed. So, one is advised to be judicious in, um, transfers of saliva, etc.

While that is not entirely unfair, one might argue from doctors' side that

- Not all viral infections can be identified
- Some that can require $$$ radioimmunoassays
- Knowing 'who' will often not affect course of available treatments

In this instance, it is concerning that patient K had high-enough fever for hallucinations (which is pretty high) yet seems to have not 'doctored', even during pregnancy. There may be demerit points for that.
