Got a screw on tire, will Toyo cover it?

The car is less than 3 month old, will Toyo or Toyota dealer repair it for free?

    UPDATE:

It was 5:45pm, all the tire store closed at 5pm. I was very close to America's Tire but they only open on Monday. Called Walmart and they are not going to fix it until tomorrow.

Decided to go home slowly, but downhill the speed went up to 50mph and the screw flew away. I had to stop at the roadside on the freeway.

Fortunately, that was 3 miles away from home. Called wife to ask her to bring the spare tire to me. Went home with the spare tire I bought when I got the Prime 3 months ago. I paid $40 from a junkyard. It is from a 2010 Prius.

I guess the repair kit should be able to fix it, but if it is a sidewall scratch then a sparetire is a must.

Not unless you have the add on tire maintenance. My tire blew when I bought the car with a license tag screw from the dealer in less than 6 hours....nope they will not!

Nope. Maybe I'm living dangerously, but I would just take that wheel off, and plug-repair, through the outside, and air them up with a bicycle pump.

I've got one OEM tire that had a finishing nail in the tread, and one snow tire that had a bolt similar to your picture. I plug repaired them both 4~5 years back, no further problems.

Getting professional repair is not that expensive, maybe $20~30 BUT, if it's within an inch of the tread edge they may refuse. The pros now tend to use an inside plug, that is more secure, but can't be used close to the edge of tread. That was the scenario that tipped me to procure an old-school plug repair kit.

I went with BlackJack kit; there's lots of good names though.

I had a small nail in mine. Took it off, took it to Costco and they repaired it for $11. with a plug. Seems to be fine now.

When you replace that set of tyres, buy them from a shop that will repair free, rotate free, etc. Like here in western Canada, Kal TIre. Or is that Kal Tyre? ;)

Like the "donut" spares, the "repair kit" is intended ONLY as a temporary, emergency measure.
It is NOT intended as a permanent fix.

P.S. Using it to get home probably would have been a LOT easier and quicker than changing the tire.

You might pay a little more for a Firestone repair but I know they take the tire off and put a patch on the inside.

    I got "screwed" yesterday, too!

I a remote part of Arizona, 200 miles from home. I was able to pump it up at a gas station jst enough to limp to a Big O Tires j1/2 hour before they closed, and had to pay $22 for a repair.

I thought I had an air pump in the car, but I just had the dealer kti which I hope to never use; I'm told that stuff will also mess up the tire pressure sensor.

NOW, I have an air pump in the car.

Bad choice. Expect to be told that your tyre is trashed.

Next time stop as soon as it is safe and use the repair kit

I've read that internet crap too, but it most certainly does not apply to the goo our kit contains. A much more certain risk is damaging your tyre from driving on it with inadequate inflation.
