I'm rapidly migrating toward just running the car the way it was designed. Just let the engine run if I want heat or defrost. It's easier and the vehicle still turns in remarkable mileage, which is a major advantage with the current fuel prices. And it holds 4 "size D" adults comfortably!

It's hard to imagine, but my "old" 2010 had to turn on the ICE nearly every time I powered it up!

I use a disc lock (pic below) at the gym locker (my car keys there!) ....

These things are more secure because very difficult to get cutters on the pin / shank / throw.

I don't know if there is a disc lock with tight dimension for the 'plug', but if there is, it would be pretty clean and secure, methinks. The little cable lock above is so easily cut, but will deter casual thief.

After I get my PIP tomorrow, I'm going to Home Depot with the cable and get a lock. I saw that Disk Lock and will see if it fits.

That disk lock is much too thick. The hole is the size of a luggage lock.

    John,
What lock solution did you come up with?

$20 for the cablelock. $8 for the padlock.

There's a charging-station available at work, so I haven't actually had a need for it yet.

how about simply pushing a loop of the charging cable through a spoke on the wheel and then putting a heavy lock on the loop?

That is a SMART idea. I was wondering myself if people would steal other peoples charging units. I'm going to get one of these locks! People are pretty honest at my work. We have a few Chevy Volts and about 4 PiPs and I wondered if someone else's charging unit was faulty - how easy it would be for them to just switch with you. For that I put labels around my cord and at the wall receptacle end on the rectangle box just to deter co-employees from a quick switch. But I wonder if having the lock on it would cause some real crook to actually try and still bust it loose and cause more damage to the car and female end that's attached to the car.
