Was in Walmart the other day and found a nice pellet grill so thought I'd take it home. Two employees in the garden dept helped me out and asked that I bring my truck around to the door and they would load it up for me.

Truck? no my truck's at home but I have my Prius. They laughed, said it'd never fit, and when they stopped I asked if they wanted to bet. Again they laughed and said they wouldn't want to take my money but would humor me and give it a try.

Well it fit just as I thought, up against the front seats and about an inch clearance at the top of the hatch. I laughed and told these young guys to never underestimate an old(ish) guy in a Prius:D

So far we've only made a few steaks and some chicken in the grill but already I can tell the propane grill won't get much use anymore. Tomorrow we smoke a beef tip roast(y)

Now you got me Googling pellet grill... I am fascinated and have never heard of that type of grill. Plugs into household 110 current?

Yep, plugs into a 110 outlet. Turn the dial to smoke or whatever temp you want and in 5 minutes its smokin up a storm and ready to cook. We bought some mesquite and apple wood pellets to start but the more I look the more options I find.

Wife wants to cook a pizza on it tonight so we'll see how that goes.

It's official... I am now obsessed with pellet grilling!

I want one. Sure I'll be getting one. Now I can study and obsess over that!

Oh, wait... I'm not done with my Prius obsession yet (probably never will be).

Now back to you're regularly scheduled topic!

If you haven't gotten one yet you better hurry, you don't know what you're missing. I find myself thinking of new things to smoke/cook on it every day. Been making ribs, roasts, chops, burgers, beer can chicken and even pizza. This is absolutely the best way to grill, or better than anything I've used and I've tried just about all of them. Tonight it's another melt in your mouth roast.

I should known better than to read your post right before dinner!! ;)

My local Walmart (in this region) doesn't carry them. They didn't even know what I was talking about. I haven't looked anywhere else yet... except on the internet.

I did watch many videos... but the one thing that wasn't clear: does the cooking time take longer, because your basically smoking it? Or is it all about how many pellets go into it?

Why do I even open these posts? Look how many of us might spend 2x+ car payments on one of these things now?

So, same as level I chargers. That's how I think now. Good to know.

It has a smoke setting and temp settings from 200 to 500 degrees. If you select a temp setting it will keep it at that temp with it's built in temp probe. When it is set for smoke it will time the auger differently so more smoke is made and boy does it make smoke. There are also sub settings in the smoke mode to allow temps from about 180 to 250 depending on outside air temp. A bag of pellets runs about 10 bucks and lasts a long time. Smoking uses about 1 pound of pellets per hour. SoCal Homedepots carry the Treager models and they are supposed to be better than mine which is a Pit Boss

That's cool, but wonder why more people aren't willing to spend $4k more for Prius Two over Civic LX to get 17 more MPG, hatchback, smartkey and pushbutton start.

Our son got one of Home Depot's biggest grills; it was close, but in it went, when they put their backs into it. :)
