    Injured plants@3. This is such a great topic! Besides communicating via volatile chemicals, there is root-on-root action.

    New forests@5. We have long not known how big forests are in total. Standard 'UN method' is based on 40% or more canopy cover. This new research is best yet for 'woodlands' (less canopy cover) and 'savannas' (even less).

    Bat detective@6. Doubt many here will buy this gadget, but I'm excited to pass the link on to folks I know who 'play with rabid animals'...
