would this work for a grill block heater to have it turn on at a specific time every day?

It would work; however, any timer (mechanical or digital) with a load rating of at least 400 watts would work as well.

I have my outdoor lights on a timer like this and I love it. It's a little bit of overkill for the block heater (and not as easy to install as a plug-in timer, since you'd have to have the Honeywell direct-wired to the outlet), but it would certainly be nice!
