They finally get things pretty well stocked and then this crap happens.
Pennsylvania coughing 'prank' suspect arrested, charged after $35G in groceries tossed | Fox News

As for the statistics being bandied about, what's bothering me is they they just give number of cases and/or deaths in each state, but not the population of the state. You have to look that up in order to calculate the number per capita, which is the only relevant statistic unless you want to drill down farther to the different risk categories by age and health.

:) I like your new avatar, Leadfoot. It reminds me of the wise old adage, "You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose ... but you can't pick your friend's nose." Words to live by in these times. ;):D:LOL::ROFLMAO:

No, all the psychology and studies I’ve read concludes different people absorb information differently.
Lots of study has gone into this for years regarding climate change and why some people dismiss all the facts.
Data simply doesn’t sway some people.
Others will accept data, but won’t act unless they get a more empathic focused argument.

I do agree with your final statement. However, there is also no difference.
The graphs and data magnified fear in me. The emotional arguments did not further magnify fear in me.
For those that are not impressed by data, the emotional arguments may have magnified fear. But this was fear that is appropriate.

Now, if emotional arguments hurl people into a panic which is out of proportion with the threat, that causes more problems. And that is where I agree with you.

Is "other bad things" an alternate spelling of "durable records of events"?

I'd really welcome a periscope walk through of some of our local grocery stores, see what I'm "in store for"...

I feel like I just hit the lottery. Went to Safeway and managed to get one four-pack of toilet tissue out of the one case they received on their overnight order. Then I stopped to get gas at the locally owned little gas station/convenience store. The owner is a prominent businessman around here with multiple bars and nightclubs. With those businesses shut down he has moved the paper products to the stations instead, limiting sales to two rolls per person. So, I managed to get a total of six rolls today. With six people in the house it won't last long but it's something.

I did order a 30 pack of a Georgia-Pacific tissue from Amazon Prime that should be here in the next few days. I've been tracking the package and it arrived at the warehouse about 70 miles away last night. Most of the stuff Amazon shows as "in stock" is either not really there or will take weeks or months to arrive from overseas. The one I ordered is one they use in restaurants so they had it fairly close by already.

No. Last shopped groceries Tuesday before last, say 12 days back. Was a little freaked by bare shelves, a lot of staples gone. Got a hunch it might have improved now? I like your motto "any ship in a storm". :)

The joint looks empty. Take out only I guess.

A lot of take out places here you wait outside, I guess interact with them by phone. They crack the door, hand you your order, and you tap your card.

Sounds like a drug deal lol.

Insurance agents place similar: they have a table outside, under an awning, and a couple of pens for signing doc's.

I went to a local Publix yesterday. They seemed pretty well stocked. Produce area was great!! For some reason dish soap was sparse. And they didn't have my favorite kind of frozen chicken sausage links (the kind with low sodium). But that's always hot or miss anyway.

Yeah when I went last (about 13 days back), bulk packs of frozen sausage and patties were cleared right out. :( We had some stock at home still, but...

One of my favourite "meat scores" is a pork loin. They have 'em on sale at our favourite spot sometimes, for under $20 apiece. They're about the dimensions of a human arm (don't go there...). Cut into chops or roasts you're set for a long time.
