    Haha nope..
Before I did my retrofit...6000k DDM bulbs on OEM ballasts and 55w 3000k DDM kit in fogs. Felt the Fogs had a better cut-off with their built in sheild. lol

If anyone would find it useful I will remove a HID headlamp bulb and shield and take pictures with a comparison halogen bulb with shield.

That's dedication John - and a very kind gesture also! I know just how hard it is to remove the hid bulb

I was talking about the actual shields on the bulb not the shields built into the headlamp, but the ones shown look different to the UK version from memory.

The HID's are nothing like the one's fitted to my car. On the H4 bulb you can make out the reflector underneath the dip beam filament actually hiding the filament in this shot. The main beam filament can clearly be seen with no reflector at all.

Hayden, were you able to adjust the aim on your headlights up a little? Did it help?

No, I don't think the aim is a problem, just maybe I was expecting too much. I think im going to try these, I'm trying to go for more of a white light to match my led drls, and the ones i have now are too yellow.

You will struggle to get the desired look from halogen bulbs. They are limited to how brightly they can 'burn' and work in a different way to LEDs and hids. The blue tint on these Philips bulbs won't make the light much whiter (despite what they say). They'll just leave a blue hue

According to the reviews, they don't have a blue tint which is fine with me i hate the look of xenon I just want a white looking bulb. The decription says 4000 which is close to the 4300 the hid id probably get has.
I'll get back with a opinion once i get them in by Thursday

A big fat NO. They've recently changed the test to look for this and will fail a car converted in such a way. My local plod also like to use a dodgy HID installation as a great excuse to pull you over.

Just looked up the new regulations for MOT tests. The new regulations to line us up with the EU are now not as strict as they were.
The old construction and use legislation said vehicles fitted with HID headlamps must have washers and a self leveling mechanism.
The new regulations say "HID headlamps may be fitted with washers and a self leveling system. Where these are fitted they must work, but reliable testing of the self leveling may be impossible and benefit of doubt must be given." So the wording has gone from "must to may" be fitted relaxing the regulation.

    Install pictures:

    Remove both headlights:

Lay out wires in drivers (left) headlight area:

Install controller box and zip-tie in place:

Run power wire under the fuze box:

Run power wire up through the bottom of the fuze box
(this is where you will attach to the positive jump point, Save this step for last.)

Run wire across the radiator support:

Install HID bulb and hi/lo motor into headlight assembly:

Invert rubber cap, slide HID wires through and attach to headlight assembly:

    Driver's side:
    - Zip-tie Ballast in a secure location,
    - Connect ground wire (I connected it to a small bolt on the upper radiator support)
    - Connect wires from headlight assembly to ballast. (each connection is unique).
    - Reinstall Headlight Assembly

    - Do the same for Passenger (right) side.
    - Secure the unused passenger (right) side headlight wiring harness. (I put a small plastic tube from Project7 gum I bought at Wal-mart. Sugar Free Gum - Project 7 - over the unused harness and then taped it with electrical tape)
    - Install Passenger (right) side headlight assembly

    - Connect power wire in fuze box, test lights. If both lights work reassemble front end of vehicle and enjoy!
If either light does not work, check all the connections, check the inline fuze, check ground wire connections.
once you've solved your issue assemble the front end.
    - You may have to adjust the alignment of the bulbs after installation. Enjoy!

Nice job and nice find! Can you post another picture of the cutoff against a wall from 25' back or so? I'm thinking we should meet up and do some comparisons one evening. Let me know!

Nice write up! Where did you get this "Invert rubber cap" you speak of. Did you Halogen Headlamps come with it??
