    To each their own. Some people celebrate a day where a where a women supposedly gave birth who said, "Hey, I'm a virgin! Really! However, no matter what your religion (or lack thereof) is, today IS the shortest day of the year (even for those of us who wake up way past sunrise).

    I noticed the short days more the first year I was here. Now that the sun is never up during my shfit at work, I don't notice it so much....it's like perpetual darkness around here as far as I'm concerned.

    I'm not nearly as far North as Alaska, but Silver thinks it's perpetual darkness. Judging by the smile on his face, he doesn't seem to mind...[attachmentid=5984] :)

    Actually, tinted windows makes as much sense there, as it does here in South Florida. To block the brightness, for one. The sun can really reflect off that snow. Blind you, it could.
