Maybe this will help someone else since I've learned a lot from this group about my Prius.

I couldn't find a direct answer to my situation.
So I will post it now.

I used a direct wire from Amazon that reduced 12v to 5v.

I wanted to hardwire my dashcam to the homelink mirror. I wanted my dashcam to turn on when I started the car, and turn off when I turned the car off.

I put the red (hot) wire into the beige wire, and the black (ground) wire into the black and white ground wire.

It works perfectly for what I want.

There were only 3 wires in my mirror. Red, tan/beige, and black and white.

When I plugged the hot wire into the red wired harness, and the ground wire into the beige, or the black and white wired harness, my dashcam stayed on all the time.

My last post is incorrect. It seemed to work yesterday, but not today.

I will work on it some more, and report back.

I'm so stupid. It does work putting the wires in like I said. The negative wire popped out is why it stopped working.

I apologize for the repetitive posts.

I will be more careful about when I post something in the future.

I have a 2013 Prius by the way.
