Here is a picture of a gen 2 Inverter by Hobbit, the lower left corner seems to be the 201 v to 12 v DC to DC inverter, the 12 v cable exits on the left.

The c will be different, if only because the HV Battery is 144 v.

The op is thinking about running big stereo on a hybrid. The usual formula on non hybrids is to upgrade the alternator or even run multiple alternators. On a hybrid the only easy way I can think of would be to add multiple 12v batteries. The big stereo amps would run for some period of time until the extra batteries went dead. At that point you would need to wait until they recharged slowly to run the big amps again. A really sophisticated set up would be a second more powerful dc-dc connected to the hv pack. Maybe a component from the solar industry or some industrial dc-dc that could supply the equivalent of three 200 amp alternators running on one serpentine belt connected to a v8 motor.

The OP has about 80 amps before deciding they chose the wrong car. (As always, never use electrical power in a Prius without being in Ready)

Why not just put a meter on it and see how many amps it's actually drawing?

i have yet to invest in a multimeter, i suspect i will sooner or later.

no "need" for it right now.

Most voltmeters only measure 10 amps before the fuse blows.

    890/12 = 74 Amps
    the fuse is 100 Amps

So long as you are always in Ready, you are fine.

I recommend always being in Ready.

If there is some legal reason you can't be in Ready (can't run the engine indoors, as an example), then you may consider a second battery.

The Prius 12 volt battery has odd posts, (JIS, not SAE) external venting, and is sized very small. All of that will bite you if you try to add a second battery.
