We are still in an experiment stage for two converters. It is alright for advanced users. We need to get more data and watch for any negative reaction from the Prius HV controller, like DTC code. We also need to watch out for heat build up in a hot day.

To anyone considering two converters, I would highly recommend buying a Scangauge or Can-View. You really need to watch your SOC, battery voltage and current flow. If you do get a code, they will tell you what the code number is and let you clear the code so all of the lights will go bye bye.

I have the 10 Kw pluginsupply system with lithium 40 ah batteries. It's better than I expected. I get 100-200 mpg driving regular when I hyprmile just a bit we get 400-600.

I can also drive 30-40 city miles on pure electric up to 52 mph. It is awsome.

The battery management system is wonder full, I can check any batteries or the pack and the totla voltage along with temperatires of each cell.

This is the system to get. I'm had it about 3 weeks now and learn more each day about it. What a super system.

I can even jump back to the old hybrid OEM system anytime. With a button I made the old OEM run pure electric, very little range, the new one will go 100 miles at 100+ mpg.
    I love it.

So far the Enginer kit is great.

I had it installed by 3 prong power. They were awesome.
They came to get me from work to pick up the car. I work really close to their office. And they had it ready for my ride home from work. The new kit looks and feels awesome. And the installation worked out well. I need to find a better switch or button, but the functionality is cool.

I know the traditional EV switch goes in the blank space, but you can't see the light for the switch. It may really not mattery but you can't glace down at the switch LED, because the steering wheel blocks it. A minor matter really.

I am still geting the hang of how to get the most from the kit.
It should take me a couple of weeks to get the hang of it.
    And the battery break in.

Funny it feels like it takes a really long time to recharge.

Car back gets pretty warm, not hot, but extra heat is generated back there now.

anyone thought of adding battery parallel to oem battery so there no need for balancer? then charge both oem and added battery.

That's the original concept of the HybridInterfaces's CANview 4+ and the BMS+ family of products since the last 18 months with proven excellent results.
And guess what? there are not burnt or defective components to replace very often at all!!!

    not with litium cells
you still need to balance and monitor
and the cell voltages for min and max are so way off you can not use in in constant paralell to the nimh ome battery pack

useing Nimh cells and packs is a better story
this is wat mrbig is refurring to.

i mean each oem battery paralell with added battery so your using Toyota's E.C.M. . not the pack in paralell.

Ok, not in constant parallel, but surely if they are charged separately then connected when the voltages are almost equal, wouldn't that would work?

That way, the bulk of the dc/dc converter can be used for more LiFePO4 cells instead.

The simplicity of a contactor solution has its attractions. The Li pack could also accept a little more regen than the original pack by itself. Though of course, there is a little more complexity with the charging and paralleling process.

what if you put all Li battery in parallel then add covert . to convert to 200 volts. that would avoid balancer.

not the best but geting better.

53 mpg with 3/8ths left in tank to go.

And I got this after driving for almost 2 hours.
And I am still geting used to how the kit works.

Yes, that avoids the balancer, but then you need a 3 V to 240 V converter. Such a low start voltage makes the MOSFET resistance more significant, as well as the cable resistance. Hence, low efficiency. Plus, balancers are reasonably reliable, compared to high power converters.
