Has anyone tried this?

The constant beeping in reverse just doesn't make sense to me. I've shut it off because I found that it distracted me from the rear cross-traffic warning. What they ought to do is have things that are white on the dash (like the speed you are going and all the white lines) turn red or orange while you are in reverse. They could also have the part of the 11.6" display that goes black (the part that isn't showing the back up camera) go red or orange, like something along these lines:

My Uncle had an Edsel when I was young but I don't remember the shifter in the steering wheel.

The beeping in reverse is a Japanese thing. After many complaints from the US, Toyota gave us the option to disable it.

Remember, all Prii are built at the Tsutsumi plant in Toyota City, which isn't too far from Nagoya, Japan. Next time I go to Japan, I intend to take the plant tour.

I like the backup beep, it brings me good memories.

That makes sense (that it would be a Japanese thing). But that means it competes with the rear cross-traffic warning for all Japanese owners. I'd really be okay with the constant beeping if it wasn't for that (how much time do you spend in reverse, anyway).

 

I bought my Three with ATP in 2016, when TSS-P was an option. I also purchased TSS-P, but I don't have BSM, parking assist, and rear cross-traffic warning.

So, I feel your pain.

I have to admit I don't know what comes on the various packages. I don't anticipate ever using the parking assist. I'd have to play with it a lot to ever trust it, I think. I'm guessing there are owners on these forums who use it a lot. Tell me, do you have a spare tire? I think my friend's wife has a four, and it doesn't have one.

 

Yes, I have a spare tire. The Four didn't come with a spare tire and, since I was moving to TX, I didn't think I'd need the heated seats. I must say the sunroof is as useful as lipstick on a pig.

It reduces headroom too.

 

Fortunately, I'm not that tall. I just prefer metal car roofs to the one that came with my car. My SAAB had a nice metal sun roof that had a good solid clunk when you shut it manually.

I got so used to driving a stick. I had been moving my car in neutral few times in the freeway. It’s pretty creepy. I can’t imagine how you can not make a mistake at dark night..
