Haven't you been reading the news or watching television? The only possible option is "Yes".

At least if my Prius runs away, it won't cost as much as if the wife runs away.

Since it has never happened to me I couldn't very well choose option 1 so I chose option 2. :D

With thirty-seven thousand fatal accidents per year in the U.S., and maybe three of them are Toyotas, anybody who doesn't believe this is pure politics isn't paying attention.

Malorn, who hasn't posted on PriusChat for months prior to the shit storm against Toyota, is now posting every article he can find of Toyota accidents in another thread.

When the Toyota dealer pointed out to the GM dealer that many more people are killed in GM vehicles every year, he said that those people were all drunk drivers, cell phone users, etc. :suspicious::der:

Don't blame them, they have obviously made poor car choices they regret and are trying very hard to escape from the daily reminder of those sad decisions.

    Hilarious poll Tony!

Seriously though, I have not heard of one single regular member here reporting the problem.

That isn't what I said. so this toyota mess is just politics? If the heads of toyota think that is what this is Toyota will not survive in the US or China.

They must not have enough mudslingers in the blogosphere to attack their competitors.

You're right, I'm sorry. You said the GM deaths were due to driver error, alcohol, bad weather etc. I thought you included cell phone use. I regret the error.

Malorn is sort of our pet anti-Prius guy. I don't mind him. He never uses foul language or makes personal attacks. I just feel sorry for him because he's tied to such a dog of a company as GM

Think about it! If he's saying that all those GM deaths are due to drunk driving, etc., while the Toyota deaths (all eight of them) are caused by mechanical failure, what he's really saying is that GM drivers are incompetent jerks. It's the kind of dilemma you find yourself in when you try to defend the indefensible (i.e. GM). I would not call anyone an incompetent jerk on this board, because it would be against the rules. But that's what Malorn seems to be saying. I have observed, however, that many of the drivers of the oversized gas-guzzlers that GM makes are not competent to drive those vehicles. They are unable to stay in their lane, they slow down to 3 mph to make a turn. They are dangerous.

So maybe in the end, Malorn has a valid argument: The reason so many people die in GM cars is that GM makes cars its customers do not know how to drive. And of course those cars are unsafe at any speed. I.e. you don't need to have a sticky throttle to get killed by a GM car.

And as somebody pointed out somewhere, probably at least half of those runaway Toyotas, it was really a case of pressing the wrong pedal.

My Prius ran away, but she ran away with a Honda. I'm kind of old fashoned, so I hold the Honda responsible.

I'd like to thank you all for hijacking my otherwise light-hearted attempt at bringing some silliness to this whole thing.

No, I haven't. I love my 2005 Prius. About the older ones like mine they say have run away, I wonder if something wore out in the programming. Just saying!
