Well, I just tried an 8mm and it seems to fit okay.
Of course, I'm assuming the nut is part of the larger disk, that has little teeth notches around it's bottom edge..?.

Likely. But I tried an 8mm and it was too big. I'm often more results oriented, so I'll go back and check the process.

My finding is that it IS 8mm.

    My apologies for any confusion.

Here's a photo of the offending apparatus.

I think I first tried a 9mm socket and it looked like 8mm in the poor light.

    All better now...

Hey, I am 58 years old. I forget things. Just open the hood and have your sockets handy. It is about a 5/16 in SAE.
Give each one the same amount of turns, to the left, as you watch on your garage door. Go for a drive. Adjust til you get where you like them. If the inspector says they are too high, have your socket handy and crank them back to the right.
    Life is good.

The adjuster is designed for a phillips screwdriver put in slot where the teeth show in picture

That is interesting. Would make it easier too. Just turn the screwdriver to the right to raise them.
    Thanks,
    Dan

If you use a socket wrench - turn to the left?
If you use a screwdriver - turn to the right?

Yes. I started to say that but did not want to confuse the issue. The adjuster is behind the headlight so the socket goes on with ratchet toward the rear of car. You will be backing the adjuster out.
Hope that did not make it worse.

According to my online Chilton repair manual, you rotate the screw counterclockwise to raise the headlight.

Don't know if this applies to the "c", but see if it helps:

That's funny to hear. Just wait until you hit 67 (that's me, next month)!
I retired when I was 62 and it's been downhill since then..
Luckily, you get good MPG downhill.. :p

As you get older than about 60, your reflexes may start to slow down. It's a good idea to keep an eye on that factor, and start driving slower and putting more space between you, and the car in front. Add a few more feet each birthday. :)
Not only can you avoid accidents, you get better MPG.. (y)

I retired in 06 at 52 years of age. Was my birthday present to myself. I can only say that life has never been this good. I had to do something about those dim headlights. My wife was also complaining. Our's were set so low it was dangerous. Not sure why but they were. I forgot to ask the dealership to set them at the 5,000 mile checkup. Hope I dont forget to ask them to fix our bluetooth at the 10,000 mile setup.

Just like a couple others have mentioned, I did the cheap ebay HID kit, major difference.

Then I got the C-4 Foglight kit, those also use H11's, so I put HIDs in those too. Major difference again.

So does this raise both headlights or just the right side?

I've been finding my lights are too low too. I'd say maybe 15-20ft max in front of me. I need to raise them up.

    There's one on each side.
