I finally got around to blackening the chrome in the front grille.

Here's a suggestion for the next "mod": upholstery cleaning!

    ;)

It was like that when I bought it (from a dealer). I would be grateful for suggestions for cleaning it, that a dealer wouldn't have tried. I just figured I was out of luck. The back seat is even worse.

You may not want to hear this but the best results come from scrubbing. Spend some time at the store looking for a good comfortable brush. Any cleaning detergent that is fabric safe and water will work. Have a large bucket of water to periodically rinse out the brush. Toss and refill it when it gets dirty. Vacuum really well before and again afterward, roll down windows and let it sit in the sun afterwards to dry. If some stains are still there, try some spot remover and then another round of scrubbing, washing and drying. Keep telling yourself, once it's very clean it will be MUCH easier to keep it that way. :)

I've become a real big leather fan. Besides looking and feeling better, it's also easier to clean than fabric.

Thanks for your suggestions, I may try that.

Though I must say it can't be any easier to keep clean than it is to keep dirty.

Better than cleaning- try the Clazzio leather seat covers....installed them in my 2 prius and they are really nice. It's an easy DIY project...they really have worked out the details and it only takes 2-3 hours to convert the front and back to nice leather seat covers....I think Danny is going to be offering them here...$450 on Ebay with free shipping.

that what I did, Clazzios were a good response for me as the surfaces of the covers were quite worn
