Everything is out and lift is being installed. Vibe springs will be here Tuesday. Just picked up the compressors at harbor freight. The good news is I can install the new springs with the lift already bolted in.

I wonder how we find out the oem spring rate vs the matrix/vibe.

Progress today. The good news is I didn’t kill myself with the spring compressors. I also found a calculator to calculate our spring rate vs the Vibe/matrix set. I’ll be getting them in tomorrow instead of Tuesday.

Pic to come but the new springs didn’t add any height at all with the lift compared to the factory springs with lift kit. The ride is much harsher when not carrying significant weight. I had my cargo box and hitch carrier installed for a test ride the Vibe springs helped a little, but I honestly wouldn’t go out of my way to do this mod unless the weight is significant like the poster with all the batteries in the car.

And the ride is still harsh with that much weight back there? I was hoping this would be a good fix for when/if I mount a hitch cargo carrier.

My sister in law borrowed my empty Prius with the heavy springs and did not notice the difference. My brother in law thought it was sporty.

I’m considering doing this. Has anyone used aftermarket rear shocks to slide the perch on? I am thinking of getting loaded Monroe set and would buy the springs from a junkyard to swap on.

also does anyone else have any input on rude comfort compared to stock?

    Thanks in advance

Ok so i would like to start by thanking everyone for their time and the OP for his impeccable documentation of this post. I have gone ahead and ordered all new KYB loaded suspension all the way around, a brand new set of springs for matrix/vibe, new set of rear KYB struts for satiric/vibe (with the hope i am able to remove the perch from there instead of dissecting a salvaged price) and a set of PriusOffroad lift spaces. I am hoping to have the setup installed a week after next due to weather and none of the parts have arrived yet. I also ordered a tow hitch with the intention of towing a small trailer. I will update with photos and my progress/opinions ASAP.
