Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce myself to the PC crowd. I am a dedicated gear head and shade-tree mechanic and have had a number of cars between my wife and myself, including:

    Toyota Camry (x2) - donated
Ford Windstar - previous business lease
BMW 330i - previous business lease
Dodge Caravan (x2) - previous business leases
Dodge Charger - previous business lease
Subaru Outback XT - previous business lease
Ford Escape - current business lease
    VW Passat - currently own
    BMW 135i - sold

We are looking to get into a 2010 Prius once our Ford Escape lease is over. I look forward to chatting and learning from you all!

My wife and I hope to take delivery of our 2010 in late Oct 2009. I'll be sure to post pics!

    Welcome to Priuschat!

Looks like the 2010 will be a hot one with key improvements - more power, better ergos for driver, sharper styling and better economy.

    Can't go wrong with that.

Thanks for the welcome message. We saw the BMG commercial and got hooked on the idea. The new Prius will be another business lease for us, so we will have three years to see if we like it or not. We are also considering the Camry Hybrid, but wasn't too sure about the trunk space.

Thanks guys! re: BMG commercial - I know that the interior of the 2010 has caused some controversy, but I think it looks great! The overall package is slightly more upscale and they predict that the prices will stay close to the 2009 rates.

Unfortunately we were informed that grey cloth isn't available with the blue ribbon exterior, so we have some decisions to make....

Dark grey cloth IS available with the blue exterior, but the misty grey (which is a light grey) fabric is not.

Misty grey was the color I am looking forward to. My last car had a grey interior and I thought I showed the least amount of dirt after time.

You'd want dark grey then. Misty Grey is nearly white.

Yeah, then you would want the dark grey... From everything I have seen the misty grey is very very light and will surely show dirt over time.

That's the thing... Misty Grey may change colour a bit over time as your pants' colour bleed into the leather but then dark grey (or dark coloured leather in general) becomes noticeably shiny as it ages...

I'll take a shiny leather before a dyed one where my pants legs are anyday...

I've had 3 cars before my prius with leather, 2 with black leather and one with dark grey, and with cleaning and conditioning every few months none had a shiny look by the time I traded in 3-4 years. So yeah, if your gonna keep it a long time and not take care of it it'll get shiny.

    ahh

3-4 years isn't long enough I think. Maybe the steering wheel will be shiny but not the seats. Our Camry in Stone leather still looked ok after 5 years and it's been conditioned once a year (mostly garaged).

Will be in the market for the 2010. However, if it looks like the plug in will be arriving late 2010 or 2011 I may wait. I am jealous at the folks who are able to preorder. Will definitely want the solar panel package to keep the interior cool for my dogs.

Yup, where I palm the wheel on top, my Acura had that happen a slight bit... I do love the two tone effect with the misty grey but with a 2 1/2 year old the dark grey is kind of a must here lol

Off topic question Tideland, but you have seen the car so... Are the rear license plate lights LED? Somehow I dont think so. If they are not that'll definitely be something to change this time around.

I hope you don't intend to leave the dogs in the car on their own at any time?
