Hi all, longtime lurker here, first post...

Today I installed a Grom BT-3 into my 2005 Prius to add Bluetooth functionality. Here's what went down:

    • "Basic install via these instructions:
      .
    • Removed glove box, right center AC cover, removed screw holding distribution box in place, moved it off to the side.
    • Plugged BT-3 into empty port, confirmed everything worked.
    • Ran mic behind stereo, removed left center AC cover, threaded it up above start button. Cracked left center AC panel in the process (few other dash panels were popped off to access this area).
    • While remounting distribution box, scraped one wire on a plastic component, and exposed copper wiring within that wire (see photo). Confirmed only one wire affected, didn't break copper, just scraped off vinyl sheathing. Note ziptie cut to make moving easier.
    • Put everything back together.
Fob #1 doesn't work. No lock, unlock, no Smart Entry, light blinks on fob but car has no response. Note Fob #1 is a knockoff from China bought on eBay, programmed it myself via "chicken dance," but has worked flawlessly.

Go inside, get Fob #2, original from Toyota. No Smart Entry, but start/stop works if fob is inserted in dash. No buttons work. Must use little metal key to lock/unlock from outside.

Any ideas?! I have no clue what happened, and really value Smart Entry.

I took everything back apart to look for loose wires, etc - nothing. Only possible culprit is the one slightly exposed red wire in the distribution box, and it really doesn't look like it's shorting or anything.

Any help would be SO appreciated, thank you. Also cross-posting to "Care, Maintenance and Troubleshooting" in case that's a better place for this discussion.

8580 is close-up of stripped wire.
8581 is overall distribution box with stripped wire.
8582 is looking left behind stereo, showing Grom stuffed back there.
8583 is distribution box re-mounted, stripped wire on top.

Thank you thank you thank you!

Hey all, bump here, any ideas?

Update is that audio functionality is 100% disabled, and somehow there's been a hard reset of something, because my backup beep, previously disabled, in on again.

Also digital clock in center console is off... all other functionality of the computer is fine, save my trip computer resets with each car start.

    Help!
