help (code p0A1d)

    after driving for about 15 miles with starts and stops, it started to have jerky acceleration, but not building up speed, eventually stopping completely. code was P0A1D. here are some pictures. suspected it was the 12v battery before we got the code, so we charged it, but that did not fix it Also live somewhere with no dealers, so probably will have to try to fix it ourselves.

    The P0A1D has dozens of subcodes, but they're mostly triggered by an internal malfunction of the HV ECU. A reasonable question to ask is whether your code reader is up to the task of accurately reading hybrid codes on a Prius. Many, many people have fallen victim to chasing their tails due to using code readers that aren't speaking hybrid language. And not just hybrid language, but Toyota Prius hybrid language.

    Here's a link to an online repair manual for the Gen 2. That code should be listed and explained in the section for Hybrid Vehicle Control. Minor description on page HV-43, more detail starts on page HV-60, with the actual DTC Guide starting on page HV-143
