While a CO detector may indeed be a good idea in your home, the chances of this being an issue in a 13 prius is near zero. Now, if you talk about a dilapidated pickup from 70's with no cat converter, then yes, it could be an issue.

This thread reminds me about that poster who started having bad teeth after buying a prius.

I'm waiting for more evidence linking the particular car to the sickness. All we know it could a motion sickness or similar.

But it would put your mind at rest if you have similar symptoms to CO poisoning whilst driving your car.

    No offense to the OP.
But when someone says "Feeling Toxic When Driving"?

That's like dropping a pebble in a pond and trying to surf the ripple.

Way too vague and not enough information.

All you can do is offer some suggestions, but determining any number of vast health issues that could be manifesting from just about anything is near impossible.

The risk of CO poisoning is low almost everywhere....until it happens. I'd recommend getting one...if only because they are relatively cheap and having one is a good idea.

Getting one allows the OP to check one possibility (however remote) off the list, AND then you have a detector for your home. Not a bad idea.

Another part of the driving environment with the Prius is ambient high-frequency noise, particularly if you drive with the windows open, past reflective surfaces.
I could see this potentially causing issues, but am not sure how I'd confirm it (other than trying a different car for a few days).
Perhaps see if you can find ear protectors that could filter down very high frequencies.

Vertigo, that makes sense. Bad for you though, especially since you drive a lot.

Did your doctor recommend the over the counter drug Antivert?

Distortion in the windshield glass may aggravate vertigo. Try looking through the windshield from different angles to see if there is any localized distortion. Some posters have stated that they experienced double images through the windshield at night.

Also have you changed sun glasses lately ?
I have found that polarized ones give me a problem in some cars.

Vertigo, it will slowly get better every day, at least mine did. It took my bout of vertigo about 2 months to get better! YMMV.
    Good luck.

im getting better , but still get a bit off when going down hills. definitely driving seems to trigger the feeling, when on vacation for a week away from the car, near the end felt great, but on the way home when I hit the mountains coming out of nashville after dark, it was pretty rough for a bit. I am hopeful I can get over this without having to quit driving. Glad i went to the Dr. before vacation, thanks to everyone that reccomended that I do that. i dont have to worry now that it is cancer, diabetes, or whatever at least lol Thanks for the replies all, drive safely :)

Maybe you're just burnt out from driving so often for so long? It happened to me and I know of many cabby's that it's happened to too. Driving is very tiring and stressful and we do/did it 10+ hours a day, 6 days a week. Over the years that takes it's toll. Most people on this forum would be tired doing one day of the driving we do, and we do/did it day after day after day.

I live in a Chicago suburb. I have to replace mine every 9,000 miles because of the pollution here.

I have never sat in a G3 but there seats must be alot better than my G2. The thought of 10 hours of driving in mine would be a real struggle for me.
Like alot of cars the seat headrest is in the wrong place. You have to lean back to rest your head on the headset. That's very fatiguing and defeats the whole purpose of the head rest. I sat in a friends newer Volvo and the headrests are right there at the back of the head no leaning back. Really comfortable. Not to mention the lower back lumber is not very good.

The gen3 seats aren't brilliant but the European cars, or at least the RHD versions get electric lumbar support.

VERY interesting to see someone else mention this. I had the EXACT symptoms the from the first day I got my 14 couple of months ago. Started on the trip home from the dealer. I experience it every time I drive/ get in the car and the symptoms described continue for several hours after I get out of the car. I never experienced this with any of my other 8 previous cars. It's a strange sensation of being in a fog. A sort of disconnected feeling with a slight dizzy sensation. I am sitting in my Prius typing this now without driving and feel this way. I never mentioned to anyone before. Thought I was just crazy. (Maybe I am) ; )

Very interesting. Do you have another car that you could drive for a few days to see if you will experience the same sensation? If not, if your symptoms are bothering you enough maybe you might consider renting one for a few days. I would be interested in hearing if you find out what the problem is. Maybe a visit to your doctor might be a good idea before you try anything on your own.

Vertigo is a condition but can also be a symptom.

So when a doctor say's "I think you have Vertigo", the follow up question is "What is causing it?".

At the very least did your Doctor ask you to return IF the symptoms don't improve over X amount of time?

If the symptom doesn't dissipate or vanish, I would be more aggressive with your Doctor. "I think you have Vertigo" may be the correct answer, but it is also an easy answer to give when not attached to any underlying cause.

The thought has crossed my mind. i really hope that is not the case. I still like driving, and I also need to drive 3 more years just to get the car payed for and clear all my other debts.
