    Hello,

I am new owner and have limited knowledge about Prius. I have to keep my car in garage about 9-10 weeks. During this time, I am planing to unplug 12V battery to save it. However, I am worried about hybrid battery. if the car does not run/start during 9-10 weeks, does it die. Should I worry about it?

    Thanks.

you won't have issue with the hv battery in 10 weeks time. Just try to stop the car with 5 or 6 blue bars or higher on the HV State of Charge screen.

Thanks a lot. Do you think if I unplug 12V battery, does this help to save it?

yes unplugging the negative on the 12v would help it. But remember you can't open your hatch if there's no power, you'll have to crawl through the front to open the hatch.

you can put a battery maintainer on the 12 volt as well.

With most smart chargers you can hook them up indefinitely, and leave battery in the car, connected. Once the battery's fully charged they just give periodic trickle charge.

    I've done that for a 2 week stretch. Yeah I know, a bit over-the-top.

When you get back home, turn off A/C and give the car a warm-up by starting up in Park. After a few seconds, the engine will come on and stay on a couple minutes (battery will go up a bar or two) and then the engine will go off. Now you are warmed up. I seem to see the battery go down really fast if A/C is on after letting car sit a week or so, so I would tend to keep A/C off for a few minutes until I felt things were getting back to normal.
