help: going on trip,what's correct tire pressure????

Referencing from other posts.... 42 Front and 40 Rear (cold) has been the popular recommendations. Check sidewall for max tire psi. Usually its 44 max.

 

There is no "correct" pressure, many here use 42 front, 40 rear.

I have used 44 front and rear for the last 2.5 years and I still have tread in my original tires, after 42000 miles starting from April '07.

If you want more comfort, then you lower your psi and sacrifice mpg and tread ware.

 

I use 40 front and 38 rear, but if you are going from a relatively warm climate to a cold one I'd put in 42 front and 40 rear. They will drop when you travel to a colder area.

For snow, you want the same pressure, that is, lots of air in the tires. The tread will clear better.
For sand, it's low pressure, for flotation.

Just make sure you have proper tires for snow. The rubber should feel soft and have lots of siping.

 

Same pressure will work fine. Low pressure is not the best for snow. Small foot print is good. Lbs. per inch. gives better traction. H
