    No no dipstick for the "transmission".

    The "maint. required" light is a simple timer/mileage meter that is telling you it is time for SOME routine maintanance item........or it wasn't reset the last time it was serviced. Most are set for 5000 miles which is tire rotation interval and might be oil change interval too on the older models.

    I also agree with this:
    It is a simple reminder and nothing to be overly concerned about.
    It will become steady after a few more miles and STILL will not be something to fret about.
