So, My 2007 prius died on me about 2 months ago, turns out it was the "battery block 8" gets weak. I pulled the HV and tested the individual cells, found that 7 were below voltage and replaced them. I tested teh new cells as well. The car started, which is a major victory since it wouldn't before, and drove about 15 seconds, before the gas ICE tried to come on, failed to start, and the all the warning lights came back and it stopped driving. I used techstream to read my codes and I now have:

    P0a0d
    p3000
    p0a80

I have triple checked the safety orangle plug, checked all the fuses under the hood, and I'm out of ideas of what to check next. Every time I pull the plug and reinsert it I get about 15 seconds of electric engine runtime, then a shudder and it dies. The ICE never comes on.

It sounds like you need to reset the 12v battery, disconnect it for about a minute

Your engine is not starting, the 15 seconds you're stating is actually the battery spinning the engine. It didn't start on it's own. If after the 12v battery reset, it still doesn't start, then you most likely have an issue with the fuel delivery to the engine or there's still issues with your battery.

7 bad modules is a lot to replace. You would need to balance the pack or it probably won't work right.

I just reset the 12v, and its the same problem. everything is fine for about 15 seconds, but the ice fails to come on and then it stalls and all the warning lights come back. The warning is still telling me it's "main battery" would that be related to the ice engine or the fuel?

since there were no other problems before the battery died, i have to think you need to do a better rebuilding job.

well, the battery was going for a while, it was entering into limp mode often, and finally died on the side of the road completely.

Any advice on "better rebuilding" ?

only that there are many threads here, and many ways to skin the cat, depending on how long you want it to last.
a good rebuild involves using a hobby charger to charge the cells, and a light bulb to discharge. it's a laborious process, and usually nets a few months to a year before the triangle of death reappears.

Ok, well, I certainly could have done something wrong. But I followed the guides I found. I'm fairly certain I did things correctly. Like I said, the car actually starts now, it wouldn't before, it drives now, it wouldn't before. But it won't bring on the ice engine, and it's telling me the error code that the safety plug isn't in, but I've tried it three different times, and checked for corrosion.

i don't think it will start without the safety plug, so that isn't it, afaik.

just to double check, did you slide it after locking it down?

If you feel confident that the safety plug is in correctly, then try this. There is a small wire and plug that inserts just next to the safety plug that often gets missed during reassembly. Since this is the sensing wire for the safety plug, it gives the same symptoms. Verify the small electrical plug is actually plugged in under the safety switch.

I pushed the plug in, lifted the handle up, and then slide the handle down to lock.

The last "push down" on the yoke of the safety plug was my latest miss, solved the same P0AD0 issue. Thanks to everyone on this thread!
