Looks good. Now I understand the context of your SKS question. Hope you are using the IRS mileage rate for reimbursement.

What did you claim for mileage in 2017? When you apply the standard mileage rate to the actual cost of operating a prius, especially a used one, it is very much in your favor. With the new tax law changes for 2018 forward, the threshold for itemizing versus taking the the standard deduction is quite high. You will need very high mileage and qualifying expenses to reap any benefit.

I claimed 14,431 miles, which do not include commute miles which are not claimable.

2017 rate is $0.535 so your claim value is $7,720.

For 2018 the separate personal exemption was eliminated and basically rolled into the standard deduction.

The standard deduction and combined personal exemption for single filers in 2018 is $12,000.

For a comparison to 2017 tax law

    Personal Exemption was $4,050
    Standard deduction was $6,350

    Single filer Total $10,400

Oh boy we get a whopping $1,600 net of none taxable income. The tax liability of that at 10% rate is $160
    There’s your net tax cut.

Of course the higher your final tax rate the more your tax liability appears as a larger cut.

    How generous of the GOP

And to think they tried to eliminate the deduction for state and local taxes too. The result would have been a huge Tax increase. As it is, they capped the State and local tax deduction at $10,000.

As soon as I do my tax filing for 2017,
I’m going to use the same numbers and run them through the 2018 formula. This will be the only way to see what, if any, benefit their is with the so called tax reform.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to go off on a tangent.

Looks like you found a great car that was well taken care of. One thing to note is the headlight lens are nice and clear. They almost look like new assemblies.

The headlights are oem, the PO was a body shop owner and he used wipenew or some such to clarify them. They were slightly oxidized in pics shown to me earlier so not the only time they've been cleared.
