...to a private party, would you give away your PriusChat account with it? Depending on your activity , the buyer could get as much, if not more, information about your car from PriusChat, as from any other maintenance or service record and receipt, giving your buyer complete confidence. I think it's a great idea. Think about it! :)

PS. This is also why PriusChat needs to re-open its Member Profiles to holding more than 20 pages of previous posts (for those of us w/ a lot of posts). *hint hint* PC chronicles our cars' history!

Nope I would not I would tell them (the buyer) to get an account of there own and reference my account as needed. As of right now I would buy anther Prius if and when I were to get rid of my current one or add a second, granted the model is still around then. If I were to get a new one and got rid of my current one transferring my account then I would have to start a new account.

When I sell a car I give the buyer a full record of every penny spent and work done on the car. If the car is not a useful vehicle I will not sell it to a private party.

ps: I sold my last three cars on eBay, including one Prius (my daughter's 2005) last week.

I'd recommend the site but they'd have to get their own account. I can't imagine being Prius-less.

    Heck no!

Even if I no longer drove a Prius (for instance, if I went EV entirely), I have made some real friendships here! Besides, there are more things of interest here than just Prius stuff. :p

Great point Rae. I think a better alternative would be to not give your account away, but refer them to the site telling them your username. Then you could say "see for yourself how well I've taken care of the car." I think it'd be a good selling point. But you're right, they don't need to own your account to do this.

I still wish PC would bring back the option to see ALL your post history, not just the last 500 posts.

Considering 90% of my posts are in FHOP, that would be very silly.

Access to an existing user account would mean that the new "you"
could edit or even delete postings, likewise any photo albums...
and what about the Friends linked to the account?

Further each of us has a reputation, or at least established a personality
of sorts that goes with each of our posts. I can anticipate that postings
by a new member under an established user name would lead to a lot of
    confusion and crossed communications.

So, I'd say no, a new member should get a new user name/account.

As to having immediate access to only the last 500 posts, I think this
could be remedied by ending each post with some unique text string
such as your user name itself. This would be in the post itself, not the
signature block. This way all your posts could be retrieved with a
simple search for that text string.

Ee gads no. Priuschat accounts are personal with private messages, etc..

Others are free to view one's posts anyway. If they want to 'hook up' with a PCer, they are free to try.

Buyers are interested in all regular maintenance and repair receipts, especially ones from Toyota.

Establish a binder with sections for maintenance, warranty stuff, gas receipts, etc... hand the binder over when selling the car. Should stay with the car.

Plus, if your car looks amazing and you know it like the back of your hand, they see that immediately.

Not to brag, but I've never had a problem selling car and motorcycles. People always want to buy a good car at a fair price.

^Cool. It seems I may have opened pandoras box. Excellent point with the private messages. Ok so giving your account away is definitely stupid. Lol. Bad idea for you all.
