Just picked up my 2019 LE yesterday, and I'm freaking loving it ! ☺ Now if it lasts 5 years, that will be close to 300K miles and I'll be good with that Yea, I drive a lot.... both personal Road trips, and rideshare too.

Anyway, first question; On the front left and right, are two vertical black trim pieces.... below the headlights, which really need a row of LED's in those spots..... but I am yet to see any aftermarket lights for this ? Is such a thing available ? If not, it needs to be. I bet somebody is going to make that happen, even if those lights aren't commercially made yet...

Second question; I'm looking at some aftermarket wheels. Not trying to go too crazy.... just 17"s, and since the Limited is offered with 17"s anyway, it should be fine, huh ? Originally, I thought I'd go with 205-45 /17"s.... but I was looking at a tire size chart, which says those will be just a tad smaller diameter. Well, I don't want to mess with my gearing or speedometer..... So then I noticed that the chart said, 225-45/17"s are the exact same diameter as the stock tires... but i'm concerned with 225-45/17"s fitting (not hitting or rubbing) In reality, the 225's are only about 6/10th s of an inch wider than the 205's.... but I don't know how much space there is to play with ?

And one other tire question.... does anybody know the tire / wheeL weight of the 17"s on a Prius limited ? The wheels I'm looking at, are not too heavy... 21 lbs I believe. Concerned about the sprung weight, for mileage, of course....

    Thank you.

I think you're referring to the area where the Limited has the fog lights.

As for the 17" wheels I have no advice other than that I would not waste my money on them. They will cost you up front and then they'll cost you every time you drive it. But they do look nicer to lots of people. That's worth roughly $0 to me, but some people will spend lots of money on that. To each his own.

But anyway ... welcome to Prius Chat, and congratulations on getting such a fantastic car. I think you'll love it. I know I love mine.

Not only will 17 inch wheels get worse MPG than 15s*, but the selection of 17 inch tires designed for good MPG will be worse.

The fog lights from a higher trim level are available: Fits 2016 2017 2018 TOYOTA PRIUS Fog Light Assembly Pair CAPA Certified | eBay
    * If you search, you can find forged wheels at 14 pounds, lighter than stock, at about $1200 per wheel. I have no clue who is willing to spend $3500 to get back to stock MPG. But you can.

Yes, only 2 days in and I'm already loving it
Getting my the glass tinted all the way around in the next day or two. Even going to do the windshield polarizing... Which I highly recommend "unless" you wear polerized glasses. Polerized looking through polarized doesn't work !

Going to yank off the plastic hub caps, as soon as I get my center caps... Plasti dip the stock wheels black..... And then the roof in Pearl white....

    Fun

Hey Jimbo, if I had that kind of money to just throw around I'd have gotten a Tesla lol

Oh hey, I tried to go to that link you posted, but still couldn't find fog lights for the vertical black spaces below the headlights on any Prius ?
I also did a Google image search for Prius Limited, and found like 20 of them, but none had any lights in that black trim area below the headlights ???

Yes, that is why I still have the original hubcaps over the original wheels, my goal was maximum fuel economy.

Forged wheels tend to be unattactive, as their purpose is to win races.

US law makes factory foglights useless, you may wish to look at aftermarket in other nations. Very often what you put on as an owner is just state law, and what Toyota puts on as the manufacturer needs to meet federal law.

I've got them and as @JimboPalmer says - they're hopeless. If I didn't have them and happened to want them for appearance - I wouldn't bother connecting them, as you'll never use them.

In Australia, they're also DRLs - but I never use them. I put ParkLights on - and that way the "Z" rear lights light up - I figure that I'm more likely to be hit from behind on the Motorway than from front-on. 3rd photo is the useless FOG light.

Actually, I think what would look good for those black areas is to paint them the body color. I saw that on a Nissan and it helps that area blend in to the rest of the car better, appearance-wise.

TY Allen, but you have a different front end than me. I'm talking mostly for cosmetics anyway. I'm okay with useless foglights lol I just still can't find any anywhere for my 2019 LE

And the irony that the DRLs go out with the parking lights. You might as well keep the fogs on as DRLs when the parking lights are on so you’re visible both from the front and the back.

For ya, the DRLs only go out with the headlights. In the Prius/Prime, it doesn’t matter since the DRLs are the low beams at reduced intensity. (Which also creates a problem of drivers driving with only DRLs since reduced intensity low beam LEDs are still very bright.)

By the time you finish modding the G4, and hauling around the extra weight of those 17s you will have thrown that kinda money around! :p

    Congrats on the new ride!
If you spend half as much time in the warranty and maintenance guide as you did pricing out the window tint then you will save enough money in this car to buy a 2025 Tesla...no sweat!

    Good Luck!

The parking lights are plenty bright enough - particularly in tunnels etc - and it's a white car so very visible. Driving with Fogs unless it's foggy is an offence here $110 if they pull you up.

Like I say, for me, its mostly not even about function.... Its just the aesthetics (or lack, thereof) of having ugly black plastic shapes sticking out of the bumper, as if "it could have" some cool shaped LED lights there. Mind boggling that this isn't at least offered on the Limited version. Surely that was expected when the thing was being designed.... then at the last moment, they changed their minds.

Surely that was expected when the thing was being designed for Japan.... then at the last moment, they realized it did not meet US law. If you are only looking in the US, you are not going to find the JDM parts.

Those with the silver trim will have a thin vertical LED light strip.

Japanese versions have more customisation in terms of radio units (ranging from basic AM/FM/CD which we haven’t seen in 10 years to full 8” screen with nav and T-Connect telematics service. )

They also have way more accessories.
