    Is that 10% state of charge absolute? I think yes? Isn't 20% the min with normal battery?

    That’s what I thought. I don’t get why the engine started at all.

    Ok. After chatting with our esteemed and enamored Raytheagle (and some more internet research) I’m pretty sure I damaged the throttle body. Not only did I soak the living stuff out of it with B-12, but I man handled it, I forced it open repeatedly, I jammed a screwdriver in there to force it open And keep it open, I done goofed. For kicks I tried disconnecting the 12v overnight, cleaning the MAF with the proper cleaner and tried starting it again. Same result. Runs for 10-15 seconds, no gas pedal response. Interestingly the dashboard says I had 6 out of 8 bars on the traction battery.

    so I’m off to eBay to find a replacement.

    Thought you mentioned using the pedal to take it up 2500 rpm after each start attempt, then it just dies.
    That is the display default after resetting the 12v.
    Isn't there a way to test with a multimeter or techstream before replacing?

    I am wondering if you can get that low cell up a bit with a hobby charger (even if not perfectly matched) and get things running. Unless the engine is not charging the HV pack at all somehow and that 15-30 seconds is the default cutoff to keep from totally draining the pack. I know that wont solve the throttle body problem, but it sounds like you are already working on that part.

    But it also makes sense to me that the vehicle computer would shut off if it had no throttle response, it couldn't put a load on the engine to charge the HV if it can't add at least a little throttle to hold the idle speed steady. And if it thought it didn't have control of the throttle I could see where it might shut down protectively since it also doesn't know if it is stuck at WOT.

    there may be, I’ve already ordered one. A low mileage used unit for $33 guaranteed to work for 6 months.

    I know I need to look into tech stream. It just looks like I need to figure out which item in the list is bad. This mystery code is so frustrating. One hybrid repair place I found on YouTube is adamant that P3191 is not a failed battery code, but a failed sensor. I did get a little rev on one try yesterday. Today stomping on it did nothing.

    sealing of which, what’s the deal with that sealed secondary filter inside the air box?

    IIRC it's on the clean side of the main filter. There for the duration.

    AAAAAAAARG!!!! ok first off im awaiting my techstream setup. in the meantime i replaced the Throttle body with a (supposedly) good used one from Ebay fpr $30. and it still fires right up, runs for 15 seconds and gives me a check hybrid warning with (now) 4 codes. P0102, P0113, P3191, P3190. one possibility is my intake air temperature sensor. but where the hell is it on a 2011 Prius??

    There's an ambient air temp sensor behind the lower front grill.

    In the air intake there's only MAP and MAF sensors as far as I know, for air pressure and flow respectively.

    Ok, the intake air temp sensor is integrated into the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor, which is mounted on the air intake, just upstream of throttle body. Here's some info on P0113, needs techstream I think:

    ohh this is good stuff. From what I'm reading the MAF is bad. I wonder what killed it? It worked fine before I took the engine apart, and its not like I kicked it around the garage just for fun either. so My techstream is to arrive in.... oh dear, I thought it was coming from Canada. its coming from China and is expected on 12/29! I've got a new Denso MAF coming from rockauto.com this week. Another option I've read about it a vacuum leak. I guess I'll cobble up a smoke machine....

    Did you say you cleaned them with carb cleaner? That probably damaged it.
    It could have been bad before now.
    All the techstream programs you DON'T get from Toyota, are a chinese copy.

    ok, new denso MAF sensor arrived. i put it in and same result. it runs great for 15 seconds then shuts off "check hybrid system" and code P3190 is the only one showing now. yes I cleared the codes, yes I disconnected the 12v battery for several days. yes i checked all the leads. yes I tried it in regular mode and maintenance mode.

    Now the HV state of charge reads %5 as per dr prius.

    I think I need professional help
