It depends on the kit. Most are virtually plug and play meaning there are no modifications needed as long as they supply you with the adapter harnesses. At the very worst you clip a couple of wires and reconnect a different wire harness. It is really quite simple.

 

Agreed. My kit was plug and play (kbcarstuff - XtremeDigital kit). Honestly, the hardest part of the install was removing the passenger side bulb. The rest of the install was connecting the harnesses to the ballasts and hiding the wiring.

All I just looked at the Xentec on e bay nicley priced around $35 was looking at geting them install at a car audio place for $214 dont know what brand tho any other brands to check out ?

 

This may seem like a foolish question, but does anyone make a kit with the auto-leveling feature - or a full replacement assembly.

 

I wood think if every thing fits right it should not be necessary I had a set of hids in my taco truck that I had to readjust and never did get them 100% right but I think that was just me on that one

$214 to install a basic HID kit? Are you kidding me? It's a 10minute job if you have the right connectors.

You can buy the kit for $35 and install it yourself. I trust you can.

 

Still expensive, IMO. Unless they have done something to their KIT manufacturing wise that no one else does. You can get kits online from 35-75 on average and DIY install yourself in about 15 minutes. For the Gen 3 you need a small socket to remove one bolt in order to get to the passenger light. At $215, they're probably marking the kit up 100% and charging 30 mins labor, minimum.

 

yea thats my thinking as well im looking at Xentec h11 6000k on e bay and Google to get feed back on that brand and some of the others menchened in this post had hids in my taco could never get them angled right

 

Your taco probably didn't have projectors in which case the HIDs shouldn't even have been used anyway. That makes it hard to aim. I can't count how many annoying trucks I see with HIDs kits in their halogen reflector housings. Especially Toyotas and Chevys. Uggg I want to smash out their headlights as they drive by blinding everyone. lol

 

hey hey hey.....i was one of those in the past! Although, it was a car vs truck, but still....and yes, in my first car with them they did a great job blinding people lol

 

adding HID to our foglights will blind people also..

 

The first set of hids in my ford truck worked very well only got flashed once all the years I had it the taco don't know what the deal was but I got rid of it and got a Prius I enjoy 45 mpg and want hids in it

I'm looking for a good kit that will work with my 2011 with no problems I reed of flicker and needing relays and all that .

I'm using ballasts from DDM tuning and good quality bulbs from the retrofit source. The DDM bulbs are crap in my opinion. If you can buy the DDM ballast then get bulbs from the retrofit source you'll be fine. If you want the best then get the morimoto kit from TRS. If you still get flicker then buy their relay harness. It's easy to install. The great thing about TRS is they are always just a phone call away and they are super knowledgeable and offer the best customer service I've ever seen.

there running around the same price and both seam to be great kits

 

I'd be inclined to trust F8Ls knowledge on this aspect. I can also second the fact that they have really good customer service. They were prompt at replies and always helpful with providing information to me via email. They even were willing to exchange retrofit kits for my Harley (which F8L is still working on - something about being busy, but some of us know he's just slacking lol) when the one I purchased was too large for the headlight housing.
