High temperature warning light

    high temperature warning light goes on more and more often when Im going up on hill.. the light its not flashing its just staying on until I slow down. I know when its flashing then its related to water pump but in this case its staying on and after that when I open the antifreeze reservoir its not a lot of pressure there. But while I'm driving I can hear how the antifreeze its pouring or traveling through in front of me under dashboard and usually the high temp warning light comes on after a specific sound of pouring antifreeze..and this can mean a few things; thermostat? I don't think so. I did try to get the air out from cooling system if there was any but I think there is another problem and like I said only the high temp warning light goes on and nothing else,
    The engine was replaced and has around 33000 miles
    Anyone has any ideas why ?

    Maybe it's telling you the car is overheating?

    Did you check the coolant level? Check for codes to point you to the direction of the problem?

    Welcome to Prius Chat (y).

    How many miles since the replacement engine was put in? How many miles on the car? What caused the engine replacement? Was a new water pump installed with the replacement engine?

    The car itself has close to 400.000
    The engine was replaced because of head-gasket but before replacement I tried to put 'BLUE DEVIL' .. on the cooling system in the hope that will fix the head gasket problem.. and worked for only 1 day after that I changed the water pump because got stuck inside (it looked like swollen inside) and we think that blue devil sh...t did this. After that I replaced the engine (a good one) and drove it for about 23000 miles until now ,

    There should be a check engine light, get the code and read what it says.

    Hi. I have a 2011 prius. I have a problem with my car since yersterday. At high speed, 130km/h or more, when i floor it, coolant temperature light appear. why ? the thermostat seems to work well, AC works fine, water pump is working ( not sure how good or bad ). check for any error codes, but nothing. any ideeas ? thanx.

    Same problem as yours. The engine has 400.000km an its working very well. Any ideea, Victor ? What did you do ? What s wrong with your car ?

    Hey friends did you find any solution to this problem? I was suggested to change DC to AC inverter which lies in front. Please let me when you know about solution to this.

    Brother i face exact same problem they told me it is hybrid inverter overheating problem change this. Now i don't know either i change it or to wait if any one have find other soloution like flushing hybrid coolent etc

    as I am having the same issue. Warning light only comes on when I am flooring it up a steep hill, then immediately goes off when i let off.
