What's the highest indicated 'driving range' you've seen displayed on your PiP?
It doesn't seem to be accounting for electric usage.
Meaning consumption could show 89 MPG, but driving range is 530 miles.
At 89 MPG, it should be showing about 890 mile range.

Wondering now if there is a limit to it's readout, or what it's basing the estimate on..

I think in another thread someone posted that the estimate is based on 50 mpg.

ya, they are thinking continuous driving, not plugging in everyday.

It doesn't have an 890 mile range without (electric) refills, so the driving range display darn well shouldn't claim that range.

Oddly enough i filled up my tank the other day and my estimate was only 460miles which i thought was really odd since the previous tank read out something like 515 miles after a fill up, and this last one i even topped off the tank.

I let the fuel pump click off and didn't top off and noticed that I ended up with the fuel gauge with 9 bars, not the full 10. Maybe there's something about the Prius Plug-in that causes some fuel pumps to click off a little early.

Ok guys , my mistake. I failed to add the miles I've already driven!..... To the
'driving range' estimate. It says 580 miles left, and Ive already driven 230.
So that's 810 mile range with a consumption of 89 MPG. So that's about right and it is taking into account my electric range.
So my original question really makes no sense, but I figured it out.

Your question piqed my interest, so i switched over to watching the miles till empty for a couple of ev trips.

Started with 66 miles to empty, took a 12 mile round trip ev and watched the miles to empty tick down to 54. After recharging, the miles to empty said 66 again. And the same thing after another ev trip.

And 2 bars left on fuel gauge the whole time.

Thanks, crewdog. I've always thought the DTE range went down even after driving in pure EV. But I never actually checked, just something I thought I noticed. It makes sense now that the DTE includes EV miles (although I thought it wasn't direct, 1 for 1, but you have shown it is).
