Hi. I’m on my 4th Prius, this time a 2017 Prime Advanced. I love the car, with the exception of the infotainment system (lack of real Apple integrations drives me nuts!) and highway speed float. When traveling over 50 mph, it’s a constant battle to keep the car centered in the lane. It’s exhausting adjusting and readjusting every minute or so.

I’ve had the alignment done, the wear on the tires looks nicely even.

Is it just the tires? Should I replace them with something better at the same size? How about a larger wheel and tire set?

    Any thoughts?

Whatever it is it’s affected both of my Prii. A Gen2 and Prime. I just live with it.

And/or swapping them left to right, in particular the fronts?

@Dave Sam how many miles on those tires? Has it always been thus, or getting worse over time?

What pressures are you running in the tires?

Belatedly, I started driving with used, larger-than-standard wheels/tires on our Hyundai cars. Some were well worn (even uneven tread), some were well & evenly treaded. Some were well known names, some not. I always gave them extra air pressure & good wheel alignments. Some wheels/tires didn't need balancing, just bolted them on. All used tires tracked, handled & cornered marvelously well. Just the other day, I traveled 600 miles(less than half on free-ways) & enjoyed myself immensely. I will continue buying used, larger-than-standard wheels/tires.

Bought used wheels/tires that well filled the wheel wells....2(+?) inches in diameter greater than standard. I've enjoyed the used, larger wheels/tires so much, my travels have increased from 15,000-17,000miles to 25,000+miles per year. Yeah, traveling on used tires that might, otherwise, be in tire dumps!

Yes, America is like 12 blind men, as Americans pass-by all the tire dumps.

The tires have 6000 miles and I’ve rotated them and swapped them. It’s always felt like that. My 2015 Gen 3 didn’t do this.

I'd try a grippier tire and go from there. Assuming your front end doesn't have any problems.

My prime has been rock solid on the highway. No stability issues cruising @ 80mph. My car came with toyo nanoenergy's.
