Portable generator would cost more than just using the chg mode.

Yes, it is hard to imagine a scenario for using a portable gasoline generator that would be anywhere near as efficient as using the gasoline engine in the PRIME in CHG mode. And even then, it is usually better to just use the gasoline engine to directly move the car in HV mode rather than incurring charging losses.

Let’s see, Condo, yours from walls in right? So who owns, uses shared parking? Get with that owner and share all costs. Is 110V available? X 2 = 220 V, a L2 charger installed = 2.5 hours to full charge. Rent it out to other interested party’s. It all can be done. Even if you have to hire an electrician. If not the bldg your living in, perhaps a neighbors. Look for EV/ Hybrid cars around you.

Try and convince the owner of its advantages to him. If there’s a Dryer plug around it’s easy to extend that to a charger and then plug in. L2 Charger cost $500 or less, delivered tomorrow at Amazon. Upon move out share cost with owner or take your charger with you.

Give the owner a test drive in your car, tell him you get 100 mpg!
