I think most of us have had problems figuring out the Homelink interface. I found it helpful to download the instruction set from the Homelink website then CAREFULLY follow all instructions for the particular door opener to the letter. Be aware, this will often take two people to accomplish.

I had a similar problem with my 2012 Prius V. Apparently, there were changes made to the "standards" around Homelink communications between the garage door openers and the car buttons. I was told that they make an adapter (around $50) that can be attached to my garage door opener that will fix the problem. I refused to spend more money since I just spent $150 on a new door opener, so I now use the opener button that comes with the door opener instead of the buttons in my car.

The directions should also be in your owners manual.

So I figured it out. Thanks to a link provided here on this thread. However the caveat is I believe it recommends pressing the home link button three times after you press the learning button on the garage door opener. You have to press the home link button FOUR! Times and now it works thanks so much guys
