Conventional wisdom is that Americans are stingy with their car purchases.
    All this stuff costs money.

:)Nice feature on most upper scale cars. Surprised that the Prius C has them. Hopefully that will spread to all Prius models.

I wouldn't consider it an 'upscale' thing. My fiancee's 2008 xB has em and that was an $18k car.
I'm surprised the Prius doesn't have them.

Isn't it to do with the wiring? You get the retractable side mirrors with heating and we get heated mirrors and idicater lights.

Why would a car the length of a Prius need one?

I suspect for the same reason why US Prius's get LED driving lights and Canadians don't. The quest for corporate profits. What sucks is Canadians actually pay more and get less features. What bugs me more is how few options there are for Prius's.

Here in Texas nobody uses their turn signal anyway.

    Same here in CA.

Toyota could have saved manufacturing costs and eliminated the front & rear turn signals entirely from NA cars. ;)

It doesn't *need* one but it's nice for when you're in close traffic.

My Volt has them and I'm very happy with them.

I believe EU and Asian regulations require a side turn signal.

As for the LED daytime running lights, they meet EU regulations but do not meet Canadian brightness requirements so you get depowered high beams. In the US DRL is optional so anything goes.

    2015 Prius Persona has them.

That and the nice Softex is what made my decision, as I also own a C w/them

Yes, they should be standard nowadays

Can't speak for the 2014 and older models, but my 2015 Prius Persona has turn signals on the mirrors.[IMG]

What's the point? Looks only, doesn't seem to be needed for any better visibility.

They will help drivers in adjacent lanes detect turn signals initiated with too little lane change space, such as when the rear signals are out of view of the driver in the adjacent lane and the front driver has mirrors set for the traditional giant blind spot there.

I have experienced this numerous times as the unseen driver behind, both for turn signals already behind my head, and for signals hidden behind my A-pillar or center mirror.
