I have a 2007 Prius I want to customize the interior. I found some cool replacement shifter knob tops. But I’m not sure how to get the factory knob out. I tried unscrewing it but it seems stuck. Any help would be appreciated. image.jpg

It just unscrews all the way off. At least, mine does.

So should I apply more pressure to get it off. It doesn’t seem to want to budge. I’m sure I could get some pliers with a good grip and get it off that way if it for sure screws out.

They probably use a threadlock substance when they put it on. I think mine was like that.

A trick: what I did with my replacement was I did not use anything like Loctite. Instead, I put a little dab of Plasti Dip on the threads and waited for it to dry. Then I screwed the knob on and it is nice and resistant to random turning and loosening, but it won't ever be glued on there like Loctite.
