How do you know the 12v battery is OEM?

Well, it's easy with a 2018 c model, the way to know it is OEM is because you actually have one.

Nobody else is supplying them at this time.

it should say yuasa, but that would be on top. have your battery tested to make sure the battery is the problem and not the car.

 

There is no good reason to CARE.
Either it is "good" or not. Who made it isn't really that important.

Charge it manually and have it tested.
And while you are at it, check the connections at BOTH ends of the main cables
and then check the charging voltage when running.

 

That is an ASSumption that may or may NOT be true.
Have you surveyed ALL of the battery sellers in the whole world in the
last couple of weeks ??
If not, you do not KNOW that for sure.

And other battery "models" that are not exactly the same may
work just fine too.

 

The fact is I actually have been looking into a replacement 12v battery for our car over the past few weeks. So far Toyota is the only one showing availability.

If you know about another supplier, speak up!

I'm certain I could adapt some other battery to work and more or less fit, but I want one that fits and hooks up without a struggle.

or searching for a replacement for the battery part number.......
or both ??

But yes if you insist on an "exact fit", Toyota might be the only one
stocking that.

 

most people insist on an exact fit, especially with the c, where it is a little more difficult to access

 

I've searched it by exact application in many battery manufacturer application guides. Most of them have zero results; some don't even let you choose a Prius c once you specify 2018 or later.

I've searched it by the battery industry's size designation "LN0" (that's a zero) and also by the two part numbers Toyota has used- one superseded the other:

28800-21211
28800-21181

I confirmed that for 2018 and 2019 they used this new LN0 size, and it's much harder to find than the S34B20R used in the 2012-2017 c.

Local dealer says he can order it with unknown lead time, $175 plus core.
