    anyone can share instructions on how to remove this temporarily?

    planning to fold up carpet to add some sound deadening on floor.

    Just start unscrewing stuff and where there's no screws it's held in by plugs & clips so you carefully pull on it and try not to break anything.

    Of course based on your photo and your question, you might want to hire a friend of family member to assist you...

    By "this" I take it that you're referring to the fuel door release. This is a cable release so it will be mounted securely; it looks like either an 8 or 10mm bolt holding it down on the door side.
