How long do I have with this dying 12V battery?

I don't know that the pump activating would affect the voltage to speak of, beyond the few seconds it's activating. OTOH maybe it "wakes" something, not sure.

Another trick, to at least avoid the pump running if you want the hood open: get in through the front passenger door reach across to release the hood.

I just measured the battery at the jump point under the hood and got 12.87V. This was after I opened the driver's door (dome lights activated), but I did not hear the pump run, so I put the voltmeter on the terminal and got the aforementioned reading. The car has been acting absolutely well since the battery change. No more parking system errors, the interior dome lights are nice and bright every time I open the door. I have not put a charger on the battery yet (it's been really cold here), but I have taken a 200 mile highway trip (100 miles each way) over the weekend.

Another thing that is coincidental, but may be a real consequence of a new battery. I've been getting a Check Engine Light with a P0446 code. I've been clearing it and it would come back every now and then with different intervals. Since the new battery was installed I have not seen it. It usually takes a day or two to show up, but it's been a week now and no code. My theory (feel free to shoot it down with knowledge) is that the purge valve test is performed when the car is off and with a weak battery may have failed due to not enough power in the battery to power solenoids for the test. Similar mode of failure to the parking mechanism. I hope I am correct on that one because I was getting pretty sick of the reoccurring code.

I just got an AC Delco ACDB24R, and intend to install it over the weekend. Looks great, arrived pristine and fully charged, but I am wondering - does anyone know how to decipher the codes/stickers to verify its manufacture date? I can't find anything about that on the internets.

    Rats, it works for me.

"How do I read the warranty date code on my battery?

The warranty date code is located on the top label of the battery. The first character is either a P or S. The next two digits determine the month, the third digit is year and the fourth digit indicates the manufacturing plant. For example, P094N means the battery was made in September 2014"

Thanks Jimbo. Yeah, the problem is, that doesn't correspond to what's on my battery. Can you take a look at the thread "Best 12v Battery" where I posted pics of the stickers?
