    Using 3.78 litres per gallon and 1.12 exchange rate, Cdn$1/litre = US$3.375/gal

On the morning news here I heard a blurb that supposedly the same guy that predicted gas would hit $3/gallon says that he thinks gas will drop as low as $1.15. Take that for what it's worth.

In my opinion, this is more likely an election year move (and I'm a Republican ;) )

Yesterday or the day before I passed a station with regular at $3.05. The Prices you're talking about don't seem to have reached Spokane. Not that I care. The cheaper it is the sooner we're going to run out as more people buy SUVs based on whatever the day's price of gas is.

In the short term gas price will fluctuate. In the long term it's only going to go up and up. And it don't matter who's in power. They're all crooks; they're all on the take; and they'll all see that big business makes big profits.

2.90 in Salt Lake City. All our gas is pumped from Wyoming and Vernal, and there are 6 major refineries that furnish the West in North Salt Lake City.....

    Cheap gas my nice person.

But yeah, I'm acutally all for high prices.....

Nonsense. The world oil price per barrel has dropped $1 and has been falling recenty. Nothing to do with local or national politics but a lot to do with world supply and demand.

Here the price at the pump has gone down from £4.45 per gallon (£0.979 a litre) which I paid on 27 July to £4.22 (£0.929) which I paid this week (10 Sept). Not what I call a "plunge" - the word used in the sub-title of this topic! Just a slight reduction. And because of increasing demand from countries such as China and India it's unlikely to drop much further.

Hmmm...maybe they are favorably disposed toward companies that make the fuel sucking small jets that transport their Hollyweird friends all around the country to bash fellow Americans who frequent evil Wal-Mart, McDonalds and drink Coke -- go figure.

Two-dollar gas and folks are smiling!!! Remember when gas was 50 cents, or even 25 cents? Just goes to show that if they raise the price slowly enough, and then bring it down a bit, people will think they're getting a deal. In fact, it's a tried-and-true strategy of price-hiking. Say you've got a $2 product you want to sell for $3. First you raise the price to $4, and then you lower it to $3. It's still really a $2 product but now folks pay $3 with a smile.

On the other hand, when you have an exponential growth in demand for a commodity that's fixed or declining in supply, prices are going to go up, up, up, just like a child's circus balloon.

Don't worry - After November 7th gas prices will start going up again.
