How many 2016 Prii have you seen on the road?

Believe it or not, I saw a Taxi yesterday (minicab actually), it paced ME most of the way to work, before I went to Warp (Once out of the average speed check zone). I've seen at least 4 that are more than likely owned by individuals. The rest could well be company or hire cars.....but, truth be told, Londoners DO love their Prii, because they can avoid the Central London congestion charge of £10.00 a day - that's £50 a week!!

I'd love to get my hands on a Prius Prime! :D

Ahh I see. That's pretty cool. (well the owners, not the average speed check).

I thought it didn't qualify cause they were focused on PHEVs and BEVs now? I guess it's just the 15" wheel versions that make the cut-off?

Wow, how much would a Prime potentially cost in the UK

Edit: Ok so I checked the prices. The Prius PHV is £30,000. Hopefully the Prime will hold the pricing or hold the pricing with additional equipment. (A price drop would be nice but it doesn't seem to be the case with Toyota GB??).

Looking at a 2016 Prius Business Edition at £24,185. It's not too far off the Avensis Touring Sports 1.8 Auto Business Edition at £23,785. Presumbly the Prius has more equipment? (like the HUD, SKS, PCS, DRCC, LDA w/ SA, Road Sign Assist, acoustic windscreen and front side windows, water-repellent front side windows and LED headlamps)

Yes, keeping my hopes up. I watched Danny's video with Dave from Toyota (Part 1 Exterior) for I don't know how many times now, and I just noticed that the product specialist mentioned that the foglights were intended to show that you were looking at a high end Prius and would be available on the 3 touring, 4 and 4 touring. I realize that the Prius hadn't even been released when the video was filmed, but it appears that Toyota may have surprised themselves by not providing fogs on the 4 ;) J

    Finally.
    Today.
Not on one of my frequent visits to Denver where I would expect, but here in the pick up truck & SUV crazed snow belt. More interestingly it is about four blocks from my home parked in someone's driveway, with a temporary license. Same color as mine. I wonder if it is a resident car, or a visitor. The population is swelling right now because of Memorial Day here in resort-land.

I live on Jekyll Island in GA and there are many Pruis owners. However, I have only seen one 2016 model in grey. Personally, I don't like the design change. I plan on keeping my 2011 until it quits.

When I first saw the picture of the 2016 I didn't really like it because it looked too much like every other sedan and I wasn't even sure that it was still a liftback. But I really liked what I saw in person close up. Yes, it does look less distinctive, but the taillights are different and the liftback is still very functional but a lot less chunky looking than the previous generations.

I have to confess that I was genuinely shocked, when I first clapped eyes on the 2016 Prius. It looked so different, I thought it was ugly. Then I stopped thinking like a peasant, and began to study it with a 21st century critical eye.

I quickly realised that the latest shape would have been honed from exhaustive wind tunnel testing (cd = 0.24), a desire to make the vehicle technologically superior to all previous versions, and to make it equally visually as stunning AND UNIQUE as all the other Prii that 'went before'.
And they did just that. And it was good!

Take a careful look at that new shape again. Has anybody seen the movie "Interstellar"? I recall being amazed at how different the Shuttlecraft they used to hop between planets 'on the other side' looked, to any other scifi space going vehicle. They'd taken it to a whole new level. But the design worked. It was visually pleasing and very 'off the scale' futuristic indeed.
I'd say that's what has been done to this Prius.
Yes, the designers still DO have a scifi sense of humour.

I disagree that it looks like every other car on the road today. Far from it. It's unmistakably distinctive. That nose looks shorter, those headlamps, decidedly alien. The rear haunches clearly channeling elements of the legendary Mirai, and that Kammback tail end is like nothing that has gone before. Almost. Except.....it's undeniably the evolution of the Prius class road going vehicles!

Paradoxically, Toyota have designed a vehicle which looks better when you're right beside it, taking it in, in all its 3D glory, than it does, viewed on a 2D screen! I've come to that conclusion, having seen quite a few in London traffic (4 yesterday), and recently walked past one in a car park (where I had time to stand and stare wide-eyed, before picking my jaw off the floor, and moving on). 2D simply doesn't do the myriad contours of the 2016 Prius justice. I suffered near visual sensory overload taking in every design element of the new vehicle. And yes, I was very impressed seeing it in person, and continue to be, every time I see one.

So here then, is a vehicle designed to continue the life long Prius tradition of looking visually stunning / shocking / unusual / out of this world / downright alien (tick or delete as appropriate). The technology speaks for itself, and I won't bother repeating how technologically advanced this 'Interstellar Shuttlecraft' look alike is, particularly measured against its older hybrid siblings.

The more you look at the new Prius, methinks the more it grows on you. And that feeling continues to grow every time, gnawing at your perceptive capabilities and altering them, evolving them, almost like a virus designed to do just that. And it continues till you wake up one morning......and you want one!

Me? I've seen the Prius Prime in videos......and I want one! There's just one little curiosity that I cannot get my head around; and this pertains to London at the moment.
Every time I draw up to a 2016 Prius in traffic, and take a peek at the driver, they've got the most serious zombie like stare (always straight ahead) on their faces. No smiling. No look of unbridled exhilaration on those faces. Why?
Do they even know what they're driving?
Or.....are they concentrating heavily on learning how to become one with the myriad new innovative technologies built into their new vehicles? I'm.....curious.

    :)

They've got their game face on. You know there's some high mileage stake (See what I did there?) of who can end the day with the highest mpg by the time they meet up at the pub.

That's me. But I don't have anyone to meet at the pub and compare mpg ... I am just trying to beat yesterday's numbers!

I live on the outer Virginia fringes of the Washington DC suburbs and have only noticed one or two so far, in addition to mine. Seems kinda strange.

I went out briefly for a drive yesterday, and saw 2 2016 Prii - and yes, they were both registered Minicabs. Truth be told, a large number of Prii in London are used as Minicabs, due to their unparalleled economy, reliability, generous rear seating space, and luggage carrying capability. Ease of operations certainly plays a role too. I recently saw an humorous Toyota Hybrid advert where a little girl, playing the role of a sales person, escorts a prospective buyer on a ride in a Prius (it was definitely a hybrid), and emphasis was made on how easy the vehicle was, to drive, through the little girl telling the prospective buyer how to drive it. It was truly......hilarious! But true. Prii are easy to drive.

I've seen two or three on the road, and I live in Washington. My favorite color so far is Hypersonic Red.

I like that Hybrid "kid" commercial.
Having spent a lot of time at Prius Chat and more than once tried to explain to newbie that driving a Prius was not at all daunting or intimidating, I like the core message.

My mistake everyone. I thought it was the 2016 Prius, but I looked again today and the taxis are 2016 Camry Hybrids. Bummed out because it was a silly mistake but also because NY seems to have moved away from Prius taxis to Camry taxis. As I said, I am seeing a lot of them.

    Nexus 7 ?

Saw my 2nd 2016 Prius (ever) in the wild this morning on my way to work. It on the interstate. A Silver one like my old Eco 2. I tapped the horn slightly as I passed but realized they wouldn't pay any attention to me, probably since I was driving my 2010 Prius.
