How many Drinks before you are legally drunk?

In Mississippi the legal BAC is .02% if you are under 21, and .04% if you have a commercial license.

 

That makes about as much sense as most of the other laws we allow our representatives to enact.

 

What would be a sensible law?

 

I guess one that would not allow guys driving cement trucks to have more alcohol in their systems than 20-year-olds.

 

The insurance companies determine what the legal limit should be. Leverage in the transportation funds, and you have state law.

 

I'd say your in a world of hurt if you have any alcohol in your blood if you're involved in an MVA, especially if someone is killed or injured. This year we missed all but a couple hours of New Years Eve. I was on a plane that crossed the International dateline going to a cruise from New Zealand to Australia. New Zealand is 21 hours ahead of California. But my luggage, still at LAX, had a great time. Im guessing the baggage handlers started early.

 

Don't know if it's been said, but in Ohio you can be convicted for OVI even if your blood alcohol level is under .08. If you fail to pass two of these 4 tests nystagmus, nystagmus at maximum deviation,walk and turn and one leg stand you will be arrested. But you should know that if you are over 50 lbs over weight the one leg stand test is invalid. Good luck with an officer telling you that last part.
